Default Re: Powersliding for a newb.

i just learned the powerslide too, my best tip is to find someone who can powerslide and skate with them, you learn so much faster

so this is 180 powerslide frontside, riding regular

put most of your weight into your front foot
and put ur back foot's heel more towards the left rail so you can get more power
do a setup carve (by carving the opposite way you want to powerslide) - it helps alot in making your wheels slide out)
push out hard with your back foot, you should feel the back wheels slide out
at the same time really swing your upper and lower body in the direction you want to go
also turn your head in the same direction, trying turning both your head and arms in 180 degrees (basically try looking back) (once you get it down you wont have to look back, but it'll help you commit)

good place to practice is somewhere with grass, powerslide toward the grass, if you fall you'll fall in the grass

another tip is to practice doing 180 pivots with your board (standing over your truck not on the nose), that helps for getting the feel of the movement ( but i dont think you can do it on your board)
