Essentially, Avs and Hotspots are the same wheel. Avalon is a super traction wheel with a sharp lip that some felt was a bit slow due to lip formation, and tenacious grip until they let go unpredictably. Home modders trimmed the lip back to improve both issues. Hot Spots are the factory version of the same concept. Good wheels, I've got trimmed Avs on my slalom board.
