i have an M1 with gumballs on it and they definitly will bite . i keep the truks just tight enough that i have to work at it to have it happen. the 78a duro is smooth as silk and for most of what i do the biting isn't often, or a problem and they grip very well. i've never crashed because of it. it just slows you quick.

if you really want to carve deep without modifying the deck but still want a tall wheel than i would get the side set 77mm strikers, but they won't give the same comfort level as a gumball in the same duro due to the large hub, and hence less urethane meat to dampen the vibration and hits. that being said, i do like my gumBs.

big zigs are wider yet and will probably just bite worse at only 1mm shorter than the gumBs. for me though i like the gumBs ability to roll over stuff and overall ride to the point that if it becomes a real problem i would probably trim a tad before i would change wheels.
