someone please explain the differences between the classic thane freerides and strikers. they're both classic thane, just one is 66mm and 77mm while the other is 72mm. both have rounded lips. what's the big deal with classic freerides vs strikers? same thane. basically same shape. im not seeing a big diff (besides color).




i mean, look at these pics. basically the same shape, core, blahblahblah. why not just buy a set of strikers?

the only diff i can see is that strikers are "•Hub Setting: SS SideSet" (http://www.sk8trip.com/mm5/merchant...._Code=W_abec11) and that the freerides will be "•Hub Setting: OS Offset" (http://www.sk8trip.com/mm5/merchant....y_Code=W_retro). is it that big of a difference?

what does all the offset and stuff mean? i've never really found out. any links to a thread or an explanation?

Center set or CS - The core is in the middle of the wheel. There is an equal distance of thane on each side. Earthwing freerides, venom sidewinders, and flywheels.

Side set or SS - The core is at the very edge of the wheel. There is a lot of thane on the outside. Gravity drifters and kryptos.

Off set of OS - The core is in between the side and the center. Otang wheels and the retrofreerides.

Retro and Classic thane also slide differently as well. Classic 'thane tends to grip much more and have a bit of a chatterier slide as well as much more grip.

(77mm striker, 21mm. 72mm freeride, 18.5mm. Depth: 21mm - 18.5mm = 2.5mm. Diameter: 77mm - 72mm = 5mm. depeth of urethane based on radious not diameter, so you half that number. 5mm/2 = 2.5mm. same urethane depth if they were the same size wheel.)

I thought, and I might well be very very incorrect on this one, that classic thane was that old thane like the fabled amber flys that came before good old abec11 green thane.

So like I said, correct me if I'm wrong, buy I think that classic is new shapes in the oldest of the thanes... or older than green thanes.

And if I'm wrong on this one, I will politely concede that I am wrong with no bad vibes toward anyone.

hrmm... i didnt think about that. I thought it was the same urethane as the good ol' green stuff. can anyone confirm type of thane?
