Re: Abec 11 Updates
I have a question with regards to the Abec 11 NoSkoolz wheels.
At the moment I skate a 42" cruiser setup and 32" street setup. I ride the 42" cruiser with 68mm 78A wheels and I've taken to skating the 32" street with the same 68mm 78A wheels.
However, I miss some of the aspects of skating the more street orientated wheels.
My question is this:
Would a set of 60mm 88A NoSkoolz provide a good hybrid wheel experience for my street setup?
By hybrid experience I mean the following:
- Smooth ride, but more responsive than provided by 68mm wheels
- Good speed as compared to standard 52mm street wheels (I hate skating slowly!)
- Usable for street tricks. My 68mm 78A work okay for this and in fact have some perks over the standard 52mm wheels (Easier to pop high ollies, softer landings, less pushing = more setup time) but also have some downsides (Hard to slide with, a bit too large for my current riser stack, big and heavy compared to street wheels)
By the numbers alone, the 60mm 88A NoSkoolz look like a perfect fit. What I want to know is if there are other characteristics that would make them unsuitable for use in a street setup?

I was think just the same a couple of years ago, and bought a set of 88a NoSkoolz. Big Mistake, they were horrible, dog slow in the streets and slow in the park, no fun at all.
You'd be better off with the orange Rainskate Tsunamis, they're 85a and have more of a street wheel shape. Rainskates Wheels
NoSkoolz is best enjoyed soft.

Thanks for the advice Blix. I was worried there might be some caveats to the "obvious" option I'll see if I can get some Rainskates, although it could be expensive given I live in South Africa :-/

yes im bringing back an old topic i know but im just wondering, how does the diff hubs in the momo compared to the 83mm centrax make a wheel so different??

Re: Abec 11 Updates
Well from looking at the picture the centrax uses the same type of core a big zig does while the Momo uses a different core. That and the difference in the wheels shape is based off the profile of the big zig on it wider side while the momo's shape is a different design.

Re: Abec 11 Updates
[Speculation]smaller hub, and thinner lips means the urethane will react more. it will be less ridged and interact better with the road,aiding the grip it is designed to have.[/Speculation}

Re: Abec 11 Updates
not taking the lips into account the momo hub is going to allow more flex in the thane than the centrax hub will
