Ya, there's gonna be endless zombie killing and a bunch of people aren't gonna make it.

The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
The others- the living- are those who pushed their luck as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down..bowed down. But the edge is still out there.

Okay spoiler alert don't read this if you haven't seen last night's episode.

    Spoiler....

So I guess now people can get infected without getting bitten. Okay fine but I don't understand why people who get bitten, then die? So if you just get infected without getting bitten then you don't die until something else happens to make you die. But if you get bitten you die from the bite?

well i have to say if you get bitten or anyone that has been
will and have probably really just gunna die of blood lost
thats in this story line of everyone already being infected

imo i dont like that because really what do you have to fight for
anymore will babies be born live or dead?
will they be alive yet infected just like everyone else

spot the people that don't understand the whole point of THE WALKING DEAD..... (think real hard about it)

Read the comics, your life will be better because of it. It's exponentially better story telling.

No you haven't missed anything per se. You may have noticed something similar when Shane and Rick happened upon those 2 cop zombies a few episodes ago. They've been building up to this since the first episode of season 2. They will reveal soon. Or you could read this entire thread, and it will be revealed to you.

Ok fine so you can be infected without being bitten and if you then die, you will turn into a zombie. But then why did it seem like anyone that was ever bitten died from the bites? Like the guy that had been bitten and they left him leaning against the tree on the side of the road. Why did everyone think he was going to die? If infection itself is not fatal, then a bite should not necessarily be fatal unless it causes some kind of mortal physical damage. What am I missing?

And to me the title Walking Dead refers to the Zombies. If its refering to the infected people as well, that remains to be seen. They are walking infected, not walking dead, at least so far.

Also, the show is really picking up. Love that they killed off whiney Dale and Shane. And it looks like the zombie apocolypse next week.

We are all infected, it is dormant until we kick off. Also, I think the walking dead is kind of a play on words. Zombies, and the people. Like in prison, death row "Dead man walking". They are already dead, its just a matter of time.

they never tried to save anyone bit
    because they think bit= death'
but they probably really die of blood lost
so i guess more i think about it
its a lot better then having to get away clean all the time
if you get bit no big deal just wrap that **** up

They did try to save someone who was bit. Remember Jim? He held on for a while but eventually the infection took hold of him and caused the premature death, and conversion to a zombie.

A zombie bite speeds up the process of dying, not just because of blood loss, but because of the massive infection created in the bite which rapidly spreads throughout the body until it reaches your brain, kills you, and brings your corpse back as a zombie. If the bite is on a limb, you could amputate the limb immediately (as was mentioned from the comics earlier) and this would inhibit the spread of infection and potentially save your life.
They are all already infected, but the infection is dormant while they are living and does not take over until they have died. The same way we can be carriers of a disease our entire lives with no symptoms or adverse effects and no knowledge of it.
As far as the baby, it would make sense that if Lori had a still birth, or if the baby died due to trauma from the car accident then the baby would come ripping its way out of her, as it should be a carrier of the virus. And I thought my kids were strong kickers while in the womb. hahaha
Lori - "ohh Rick come feel my belly. The baby is kicking. How beauti... Woah, he is really kicki....Ohh God NOOO, something is wro...AHHHHH!!! RRRRiippp -BLARGHH-" Rick has to smash the head of his infant zombie baby And shoot zombie Lori in the head. Lori dies, epic carnage, everyone wins. Kirkman, are you getting all this!?! Maybe its twins, and only one of them dies in the womb... Infant Zombie eating infant eating mother... Whaaaaat!

You got to read Brian Keene's epic zombie novel, The Rising. Almost the exact $hit ^ happens.

I think while the pure epidemiological explanations are somewhat fun to dwell upon (this coming from a public health specialist), I think the specific whys and wherefors are best left here and not discussed too heavily in the show. You never know, there might be 2 strains of the virus: 1 that's spread thru air that everyone has and another that's spread through the bite? One could be more virulent than the other. After all there are different forms of rabies, flu, staph infection etc.

Its the implications of mass dormant, asymptomatic infection I'm worried about.

And with that, I leave you this appropriate song

I'll have to check it out. Sounds crrrazy.
    And I agree 100%
The idea is to follow the most realistic/plausible approach to things, without ever explaining them in the show. It's better left this way in the stories.

They are all infected since we dont know when, just that they are Now. We never get told specifically how or why or when, only that they are. They leave it to your imagination and logic to fill in the how's and why's. Just like Sherm explained, and I also explained a while back in this thread, they keep the virus aspect plausible with similarities that can be drawn to real life examples as the explanation for something fictional.

Man, I got to say I was super impressed by Rick's slick knife work on shane. Real smooth. The audience + shane were just staring at the colt python in Rick's left hand and didn't notice the split second he put his right hand to his back to get his knife.

Yeah makes sense about the bite infections. Haha, the baby idea is awesome. Would love to see the selfish, faithless, Lori Biatch go out that way!

Yeah it is strange they just find out now. I almost wanna get on Netflix, go back and watch the whole series over again to look for those inconsistencies. But when you think about it, there have already been a ton of inconsistencies in the series anyways.

    1. The sound of bullets at the farm on the last episode is bringing the zombie apocalypse. How come that didnt happen when they had the zombie barn shoot festival at the midseason finale?
    2. A zombie bite infects you. So how come no one seems to be worried about splashing blood all over when they kill zombies? (Maybe this now explains the fact that everyone is actually infected now)
    3. Yadda yadda, etc. A lot of these inconsistencies can be spotted I guess. Still a good show.
