    Talking Military Boarders

How many of us are on the fish?

1st.) I noticed that the Army(recruiting command?) sponsored the MFOS and I figured maybe if we are lucky we could get some kind of team put together.
Even if its just in the form of TDY days it would be worth it to travel around to one or two races on thier dime wearing some kind of Army logo and could promote safety.

2nd.) anyone deploy and successfully obtain a board and ride somewhere cool? I'm planning on it right now, but if so how did you chain of command see it?

3rd.) Anyone interested in being interviewed for stories on what it is like to give up liberties like skating to serve your country during a deployment? Any experiences with the local nationals and skating in OIF or OEF?

4th.) It is crazy that when I ask 14-18 year old children if they have ever skated they have know idea what i'm talking about. I think obtaining boards and safety gear to show the children how to at least use skating as a form of transportation would be something extremely positive! every teenager and child I have met are soo amazing and love to exchange cultures with the people they meet! EVERYONE has an old board they hate and don't ride anymore to donate!

I'm enjoying my nice vacation here in Iraq......truthfully I wish we could all just go home and ride Indian school arroyo all day like I used to.
but since I'm here I gotta make the best of it and my base has two huge man-made hills on it soo doing some guerilla runs is tempting.

good luck when you get out! what state are you thinking out? you going to be nice to longboarders right?

thank for sharing, the rules of engagement in both OIF and OEF are really specific depending where you go.(not that the decision to take a life is ever a small one)
the climate in Iraq is getting better
signs like this are coming down.

and so are walls that divided families in the city, they covered city blocks to isolate the violence.

The Only combat area I've skated in is Djibouti, luckily I worked n the flightline so we had some OK pavement. There was a marine major in CW this summer that was trying to start like a military skateboard association, not sure if it ever really happened or not. Anyways I have a mini that fits perfectly in my seabag, my command has never had a problem with it.

their was a video floating around about 2 soldiers with a mini ramp on top of The Bath Party House, and when I asked the Garrison NCOIC he was like "what the hell are you talking about!" then he pulled me aside and said it was a shame but they had to take it down.

How many of the countries that you have visited have you skated in?

Then you would def. hate my job. I command a BCT Battery. But its a lot different from the other side. My DS are great guys, totally genuine, and once you get to know them complete softies. They have a job, and they fill it well, but they are completely human (in a good way). Sorry to shatter your image.
