Calling all Graohic Designers and wanna be graphic designers and any scribblers that might feel the call.
This is a logo contest and this is your assignment.
You are asked to come up with a logo for the Chicago Longboard Society. They are looking for something they can use on their website, fliers, t-shirts, stickers and what have you.
They had mentioned something about single color graphics for ease of screen printing but this is not set in stone. If your idea demands more than one color I'm sure it will get equal judgment based on the merits of the art. Just please keep in mind the limitations of the printing process. I'm sure they want to see something that is visually striking and yet not cost prohibitive to print.
Here is their website link so you can do your research into what they are and what they are about. You might find this useful or you might want to come in unhindered. That is your call. You are the artist.
Chicagolongboardsociety.com
The rules.
You are given your assignment. You are given your deadline. You do your work. You submit your work upon the given date range assigned. Your work will be judged and critiqued by our panel of judges. A winner will be selected.
That is how it works. Pretty simple.
If you have questions about it just ask.
Time line.
You have roughly three weeks to do your work. Starting TODAY!
Submissions will be excepted starting June 24. Submissions should be submitted in the official Submission thread. That will be created around that time. You will have until the end of that weekend to get your submissions in.
Judging will commence that following week. With a winner being declared afterward.
The catch.
You will be creating artwork for CLS to use. Your entering into this contest means that if you're artwork is chosen you give them the right to use said art. You still retain ownership of the art but give CLS the right to use it.
Prizes.
Awards shall be given at the clients discretion. I shall let the client disclose what those shall be at a time of his choosing.
So get to work and make me proud.
You know where to find me if you have any questions.

Big thanks to sniffleless for setting this contest up! I hope it's going to be a doozie!
Seeing a how this is a Graphic Design contest that will be used to support Chicago's efforts in this wonderful longboarding community, it's only right that the prizes should follow suit.
And to sweeten the pot even further, we here at CLS have decided to grant prizes to more than one winner.
We will be awarding prizes to more than one contestant, to further stoke your creative juices.
Some of the prizes will consist of a custom ChiXill deck of your choice, shirts adorned with the winning graphic, and stickers also featuring your winning design as well.
Now we are looking for not only a graphic to be used for our latest shirt, but also a logo we can use to represent CLS as well.
So basically it's two contests in one and you may enter as many as you like.
The panel of judges will then pick the top ten in each of the two catagories and decide which of you will be going home with the prizes.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys throw down. And remember, your art will forever be represented by our 290+ members for all eternity.
Now get to work, the competition is going to be fierce. Thanks to everyone that steps up for this. We are honored to be a part of this, and hope you are to. Peace

By all means enter. Unlike most contests where anyone of any taste can vote for their favorite, this contest is all up to a few judges that might really like what you submit.
We are looking for something simple and bold, and something that can be used as an iconic image for years to come.
You may think your submission will be too simple, and we may think many of the submissions are too intricate and not highly visible enough.
Honestly, we have a number of Graphic Designers in CLS, and plenty of members that would love some free swag, but we'd love to give back to this fine community and inspire you talented souls to throw down and be a part of of what we are doing.
Remember, you can go to Chicagolongboardsociety.com which will link you to our facebook page of the same name to see what we're all about. Thanks again everybody, your brother in stoke, Justin Toxicated
all is well.

That's right, VG.
You have to consider how the graphic is going to be used. You can come up with the best image in the world and it just doesn't work for making t-shirts. Line weight can be crucial. Use of color or number of colors used always needs to be considered in a project like this. Colors cost money when it comes time to print.
