I ran mine with an 1835 and dual webers and it ran like crap in the cold. Sweet cars, put a big motor and go really fast.
Hey man, those are dual 48 idf Weber's on a stroked 2276cc motor. It had around 220hp and a close ratio trans. 437 first gear. I killed a Z06 Vette and a Porsche 911 Turbo with this car, not to mention all the jocks with the Camaros and mustangs. As far as the imports go. That was more of a joke, hahaha. But believe me, I have had my ass handed to me once or twice. There's always someone faster, especially when they only have 2 wheels and weigh just under 400 lbs....

I get to go check out an '89 golf with digi2 later today! Apparently it's missing much of the shift linkage, but that's about it. Super stoked!

That would be a beasty motor for sure. I have hit 130 in mine with just an 1835 with dual 44 idfs.

    Ouch... Why so harsh buuuuuuudy?

Nah really though, it's a pretty sweet car. Chicks like it. It's roomy for two. I'm 6'2" and got plenty of head space to lift my radio up in the air (10" from scalp to ceiling)

I've seen more guys drive them. I'm gonna paint it neon green once I get some cash flow.

    Volkswagen : Rabbit:eBay Motors (item 130335847774 end time Oct-14-09 17:15:53 PDT)

If VW was smart they would just bring the OG mk1 rabbit back to the north american market, No money to put into new prototyping, design, heck, they could even use the old advertisments. It is exactly what the market needs again, a cheap, reliable car with great milage.

who needs to buy a smart car when a rabbit gets the same MPG

haha. They are terrible cars... I can't stand working on them or driving them, it's mostly the stupid kitchen table they put in for a dash... it leaves no room in the engine compartment and awful blind spots in the front.

    But that's just my opinion.

Went and checked out the Golf last night! All it needs is some minor work (timing belt) and some cosmetics (headliner, dash).

I was figuring it didn't have an engine! I'm so stoked!

I do agree with the lack of room to play with the engine. I gotta completely remove my air-intake components just to CHECK the brake fluid. Other that and the minor electrical problems, i don't have many blind spots; none in the front. It feels like I have more visibility than my past cars.

The selling point that got me was... I'm 6' 2" and I have a foot of head space before my head hits the ceiling while my seat is where i like it. even if i was to adjust the seat sitting at a 90* angle and had it jacked up all the way, i still have a few inches of head space. It's a roomy car 2 people.
