And you have to take the front end of the car off to do any major work... Like change the timing belt, which should be done every 60k...

It's a roomy car 2 people.
That I can agree with.

Re: Volkswagons!!!
Back in the day, I bought a 1970 Micro bus without a motor.. a buddy was redoing his baja bug AND TOOK THE MOTOR out.. It also had a 2276 cc jug kit and Dual Weber 48's (maybe 44's) we slapped that thing in the micro bus (It also had the mountain gear box. Thing would pull a wheelie from stop lights.. used to whip up on hot rods as well

Re: Volkswagons!!!
It's all my wife's fault. She had a '75 Rabbit when we met. We bored that out, balanced it, polished the intakes, and I had a little screamer. Had the transmission out of that thing twice on my own.
Since, 2 GLI's including a 16V, a Fox Wagon(!), Eurovan, and now I'm living large in a V-6 Passat.
Most of my flying has been firmly groundbased sorry to say.

Re: Volkswagons!!!
Old VW's have a swing axle so when you lower them you get neg camber

Ahh, okay. I get it.
And I suppose that "Z"-ing the frame, to avoid the camber, isn't quite doable...

Re: Volkswagons!!!
VW's dont have a frame, they have a pan. You can do a fork drop which means you have to cut the back of the pan off where the trans mounts to andweld it higher up. thats one way to eliminate the camber in the back. The silver bug that all hot rodded out on the pic I posted has that done to it, thats why you see the dual carbs coming out of the body

Oh I agree. It's a hassal just checking the break fluid. Hell, I just installed speakers and that led to all kinds of and home-ingenuity. Even changing lights sucks.

True that ####! With this Florida sun and the cleared lands, they sun is always in my eyes. I'm pretty used to it because I wear glasses and never really liked prescription glasses. I'll wear old-peoples sunglasses that fit over my glasses. Plus, if you see me without a hat, that means I got drunk the night before, lost it, and didn't have time in the morning to find it.

Re: Volkswagons!!!
Sweet!! The old people sun glasses that look like virtual reality glasses....haha.. Not a big fan of VW after 98. Everything got crappy and that whole timing belt sux, you literally have to pull so much #### out to replace it, and that in it self ends up causing probs. But anything pre 98 im all about. Oh and do you ever notice that all the newer vw's always have a head light out? Try to pay attention to it, its really crazy!!
