Cops that skate?

I was reading this thread about how cops and skaters don't get along very well and there are tons of videos about the confrontation between them etc.

Then I started thinking, if some cops are guys, and some guys skate, there must be some cops that skate!!! (wow amazing conclusion, duh)

But seriously, are there any cops that skate? How are they treated, are they on SF, what do they think about the hostility and all? It would be interesting to know. Post it here.

I work in public safety, and I skateboard. I am currently in a hiring pool for a county Sheriff's department, so if all goes well I will be a cop who skates rather than a "manager of security guards" who skates.

Actually, one of the local officers who works with us off-duty grew up skating.

Transworld (I think) had an article a while back where they interviewed a fire fighter, paramedic, and a cop who all skateboard. I believe the cop was from out West somewhere... but anyway, yes, they are out there.

I got stopped by a cop monday night when out with about 12 other skaters. he was one of 4 cop cars that tracked us down, and as it turned out, he was a former skater and was really open to longboarding. He used to skate back in Point Pleasant, NJ in the early 90's, and even had a friend who went pro for a few years. Totally caught me off guard.

The other 3 cops that stopped the rest of us were jerks :P

Good to hear, i knew it. Skating almost has an "illegal" image with allot of people and is put together with allot of negative stuff sometimes, but actually, it's not illegal at all.

So long as there's no laws against it ;D

They can only really give us tickets for A) Speeding, or B) Obstructing traffic :P

running stop signs is a big reason longboarders get pulled over in portland.
I liked that episode of rob and big when the security guard comes out and talks to them, then takes the skateboard and does a kickflip.

lotsa cops, security guards, etc skate. hell lotsa military bases have skateparks as well.

i dont see why it sounds so odd.. i mean, i met a CHP that was into minor threat and sh!t and chopped it up with me and my scummy drunk friends while he gave my ex a ticket. lol

so... yeah, some cops skate. ive seen it first hand, too

I've seen cops smoke weed... on duty... at a Waffle House with their cop buddies... I didn't hassle them about it, they didn't hassle about my bottle of booze. Anyone that orders 6 chocolate waffles at 3AM has gotta be stoned.

Cops are people too. That is where people fail to understand how "jobs" and "working" work.

I don't hold grudges on cops. It's their job to kick us out of parking lots... It's also their job to provide protection to citizens and balance the law.

Without cops, or law for that matter, what would society be today? Anarchy is fun, but it's immature. There is no possible way a populated community could survive in an anarchist environment. I doubt there would be electricity in this imaginary community.

Just a thought.

I just avoid cops to the fullest. Even my friends that became cops eventually became dicks. It's a power thing.
