OZARK, Ark. -- Ozark police said they were called to a home where a mother asked for help with her unruly child, but the 10-year-old's father said he's outraged at the force police used against his daughter."I would like to say Ozark police Tased this little girl right here. Ten years old and [they] shot electricity through her body, and I want to know how the heck in God's green earth can they get away with this," said the girl's father, Anthony Medlock.Medlock said his daughter was at her mother's house when Ozark police Officer Dustin Bradshaw shocked her in the back with a Taser and arrested her."If you can't pick the kid up and take her to your car, handcuff her, then I don't think you need to be an officer," Medlock said.Medlock said his daughter does show signs of having emotional issues, but she "doesn't deserve to be treated like a dog. She's not a tiger."According to a police report, the officer was called to the home by the mother and witnessed the child kicking and screaming. The officer's statement said the girl's mother, Kelly Hamlert, told him to use a Taser on her if he needed to.The officer did shock the girl after he said she kicked him in the groin."He had no other choice. He had to get the child under control," said Ozark police Chief Jim Noggle.Noggle said the officer shocked the girl for about a second.Ozark police said it is their policy to use a Taser on someone who is a threat to others, no matter their age.Noggle said simply restraining the child could be harmful."Well, if he tried to restrain her, he might hurt her by restraining her. If you grab somebody, you can slip an arm out of joint. They can slip from you and fall on the ground," Noggle said."I don't know what kind of policy it is. I don't think it's right," Medlock said.Medlock said this is not the first time the girl's mother has called police to take her daughter to a juvenile facility. He said he will now try to get custody of his daughter."She just wants somebody to love her, and I do," he said.40/29 News checked with several other police agencies about their taser policies. The Fort Smith Police Department said it will only uses a Taser on a person 14 years old or older if they are a threat to someone.Fort Smith Police said it's usually the discretion of each police department to make their own policies on using a Taser.Noggle said no action is being taken against the Ozark officer who used the Taser on the girl, and he said her case will go before the juvenile court system.

That's just bad parenting. If the mother was stupid enough to say use a taser on her own daughter, she's probably not smart enough to raise her. It sounds to me like these parents are just looking for money, and abusing the court and law system. I have no sympathy for the parents, but I do feel bad for the daughter who has to be raised by these assholes

This is true, the child was flailing. People with seizures flail too (this is not supposed to be funny, I can't think of how to word it any other way). You aren't supposed to restrain people having seizures because they can hurt themselves

Re: Police Officer Uses Taser On 10-Year-Old Girl
that is some bullshit. if the ****ing PIG can't use the training he went through as a cop to retain a 10 year old little girl, then he shouldn't be out there to protect and serve the community like he is supposed to.I bet that guy feels like a badass.
chief noggle=chief wiggum by the sounds of it.
edit- o yeah guy above me, people having seizures aren't aware of it

No shit, they aren't aware of it. Restraining the little girl won't stop her from trying to flail around, just like restraining a guy with a seizure won't stop him until the episode is over. Maybe if you didn't shred that 420 gnar all day long you would have some sort of thought process.
I'm on the cops side, if some little girl kicked me in the nuts, I would sure as hell taze her. If her parents aren't providing the discipline I might as well. I wouldn't want to have to listen to her flailing around in the back seat of a cop car, either. She could hurt herself doing that.

well said
and I agree with your later statement about the cop using the taser after the nut shot.

So you should taze somebody who is having a seizure to make them stop? Restraining a little 10 year old girl would not be that hard for a grown ass man who has been trained to deal with shlt like that. But nooooooooooooo. bust out the tazer and blast that bitch.
And if she hurts herself in the backseat of a cop car then thats her own damn fault, not the cops.
Only a ****ing pussy ass bitch would have to use a taser to control a little kid.
edit: I'm not trying to defend the little girl, but a cop should do better than that

Once again, you are wrong. Why would tazing somebody who is not conscious stop the rapid involuntary convulsions? It wouldn't. Tazing her is similar to punishing her. Since her parents never chose to discipline her, and because the cop does not have the legal right to hit a 10 year old, tazing is the only option. The cop has to show his superiority somehow, it's psychology. The 10 year old girl probably roughs around her parents without them doing much back to her. They probably ignore her when she throws hissy fits for the most parts. Only reason to get the cops involved is because the police department has money. So the little girl thinks she can boss around the cops like she does her parents. So the cop tazers her to show his superiority, because it's the only thing he can do. If the little girl hurts herself in the back of the cop car, than that IS the responsibility of the police department. She will get over what happened to her, not that big of a deal. Again, if you didn't shred the 420 gnar all day long, you might have an idea of what you are talking about.
These people are just trying to get money out of the police department. Now I know you all say you hate pigs and such, but when a police department has less money you will hate them more. In my town, my cheapass fellow residents approved a bill to cut funding to the local police department and the harbor master. So the officers get paid less money. One is now 100x more likely to get pulled over for bs and get a bs ticket in my town, because the cops are not as happy and not paid as well, and they work longer hours, so they give people tickets to make money.

You are the one comparing a flailing 10 year old girl to somebody having a seizure.
Ok. So say the girl gets restrained, she is small and she gets tired, she gives up. Done. That cop is just a lazy power-trippin bastard with a taser gun. And you say the cop cannot hit her. There is a difference between restraining and hitting. You probably would taze a little girl just like the pansy cop did. And me smoking weed has nothing to do with this

You have much to learn. I think my last post said enough
Edit: He only gave her a burst of electricity. The tazer was cranked way down, too. It was merely a demonstration of power, so the cop didn't have to deal with her tiring herself out for a couple hours. Again, its psychology, the "lazy power-trippin bastard" knows it, you don't. That's a little embarrasing

It does not take a taser for a cop to show a 10 year old who is superior.

.
That is bs. Even if it legitimately is the police department's responsibility for the little girl hurting herself in the back of the cop car, that is twisted logic. If the girl hurts herself in the cop car it is her own fault and the parents need to take the blame. The p.d should not have to take responsibility for that...And about what Mr. 420 said, a cop's training is very intense and helps to prepare them for crime WAY worse than a temperamental little girl. I know how police department's work and operate. So don't try to one up me on this.
And you have your 'psychology' all wrong. when the officer was kicked in the sac by the girl, he was obviously wounded and felt mentally insecure. By this I mean that he is a police officer who has had intense training, but got kicked in the sac by a 10 year old girl. So because of the embarrassment and insecurity resulting form this event, he chose to fight at the girl's level. Instead of restraining her and using the proper method of restraint in that given situation, i.e take down or simply holding her hands behind her back and cuffing her, he chose to get rid of his embarrassment by using his taser. He did not need to taze her, even if it was a very minimal shock. It's not like the girl had a gun or knife aimed at the cop. He could have easily just cuffed her and put her in the car.
But what it comes down to is parenting. The parents are evidently careless and give into the girl's needs very easily. They have turned the girl into a hot-headed and ignorant human being...This whole thing is stupid and there is no point arguing it if it has no affect on any of us...And there is no need for you to bring up the smoking of weed. It has absolutely no relevance to this situation. Get off your high horse and open your mind to different possibilities.

I agree with your bottom statement strongly, but I'll correct what you said up top. I like how you respectfully answered, by the way (no sarcasm here). I agree with you that he felt embarrassed after getting kicked in the sack. Let's say the cop was feeling vulnerable, but up against an actual criminal who was fighting back. What would make you feel more manly, to take the criminal down with your own hands, or to use a taser? Personally, I would choose taking the person down with my own hands. So if he wanted to feel more manly he would have used physical force to restrain the girl, instead of tazing her. And you don't know how vicious 10yo's can be. I think you have a misconception of what tazing really is and how it works. It is nothing more than a shock to the system, like jumping into really cold water. Yeah, it hurts like hell, but that's just temporary. The cop has to use some sort of force to restrain her, and because she is a hell of a lot smaller than most of the people he deals with, the cop would have some trouble judging how much strength to use. A taser is the safer option because it's pretty easy to control the severity of it. And it's not just a matter of putting the girl in handcuffs. She can still move her legs and the rest of her body. Teeth hurt, too. The resistance won't stop once she is cuffed. And tying her up completely is just as unethical as tasing her. Kids get electrical shocks all the time, I know plenty of people from my childhood who have gotten shocked by electrical fences. You don't hear much about that in the news. Why would you risk hurting the girl by using physical force? It's just plain stupidity in my book. The cop was probably planning on using the taser in the first place, anyways. And I brought up the weed part because that kid is just an ass. I smoke weed a lot, too, doesn't really mean anything.
