I'm thinking of joining a CSA. Community-Supported Agriculture. you invest a bunch of money in a coop farm every year, then you go to the farm weekly and pick up farm-fresh groceries as dividends for free. When you crunch the numbers, you save about 45% weekly on groceries, and everything you eat comes from a single farm. My nearest one is a 25 minute drive, and thats well worth it. All I need to do is scrounge up the money to invest and somehow beat the waiting list for membership,.

Just thought I would let you know.
    Food is good.
I tried to fix it and it wouldn't let me do it. I was hoping it would just be one solid line going across and extend the edge of the browser, but it didn't and it also threw in an extra space in there. >:[ Oh well...

Also, I made prepackaged oatmeal today and it came out to $0.10 per package. I am winnar?

CSA's can be pretty good if you cook all the time already.. but it can be pretty daunting to use all the produce. They vary a lot too.. Some are just vegetables, others have meat. eggs, cheese, flowers, etc.

Last year I split a $300 work share with a friend, and got a couple pounds of vegetables every week for 6 months. The work share was one hour of work a week on the farm, 24 hours over the season, that you could do in whatever chunks you liked. I found three heavy duty wheelbarrows in the trash, and fixed them up and donated them as part of it.

New ones start every year, so ask around (the farmers all know each other).

and right now is exactly the time when farms are starting to take reservations for the year (in new england at least).

I work for the university that majorly supports the CSA i would go to, and I have gone there to perform soil research in the past, to maybe that helps, but their system is an honor system of take-what-you-need, so you dont bloat yourself with all the produce. On average they can afford you enough to feed a family of 5 on a single investment. They also just started a boxed share program for an extra fee, but enough for about 3 people is around $700 for a year, which is way within affordable means.
