I spent $0.48 on my meals today
I had some peanut butter oatmeal this morning, which cost me $0.20, some waffles that cost me $0.25 to make for lunch, and for dinner, I cruised around Costco and ate a ton of free samples. Then I had about $0.03 of raisins as a late snack to curb hunger. What does the 'Fish think about such delicious food for so cheap?

A diet of brown rice, beans, and oatmeal is nutritious and leaves more money left over for slide wheels.

I think with that diet the only place you would slide is into the can.

All that fatty and spicy barbecue is going to give you heart disease even if the nitrates don't kill you with colon cancer first!

Re: I spent $0.48 on my meals today
I used to go to Dobie Mall in the 80's and get a dollar burger and use their 'fix yer own' topping bar to make a huge salad burger. It would hold me 'til dinner. My friend was so cheap he would do all you can eat buffets to consume his caloric need for the entire day in one meal, he would eat like 3-4 times a normal person, it was really gross; like 20 slices of bacon kinda action, he is probably still shi.tting out traces of that grease to this day.

in the eug, you can eat for free constantly -- you can get the sundance leftovers, you can get the bagel leftovers, the cosmic pizza leftovers, dough co leftovers... worst case scenario, nug trades. totally free -- who pays for pot anyway ?

The food at my University here in HK is cheap, not 48 cents cheap but cheap.
I can get a meal for about $2 American.

Dumpster diving is the way to go. I don't know how well it works elsewhere but here it's mad easy and you'll eat like a king for free.

I've done the free/cheap food thing for a decade.. in every way I could..
I'm pickier about dumpsters nowadays, and there have never been that many great ones around Providence, but there's really no reason to ever pay for bread, and if you're squeamish about actual dumpstering, you can usually get stuff for free by asking stores for past date donations (for your food not bombs, or soup kitchen or whatever)..
Or similarly making arrangements with anyone you know that works at a food place.
Food Whole has a great return policy.. Return any item they sell for store credit without a receipt, or if you have a receipt that's all you need. The furthest I've pushed it was getting store credit for $60 dollars worth of produce that 'wasn't fresh'.. but keep it under $20 and no one cares. There's an art to it though, dressing and talking right.
Restaurant supply places have ridiculously low prices on many foods.. especially useful if you want to cook for a lot of people
Farmers markets are great, cheap to begin with, and at the end of the day you can always get stuff for free or cheap.
Growing your own vegetables is great too.. and really can't be beat if you value freshness, flavor, and nutrition. Depending where you live different plants will just grow themselves if you put seeds in the ground.
Living with people and cooking for each other can be great, saving time and money, or with a little more effort doing the circle of regular dinner parties at friends houses.
And there's always shoplifting, and 'chew and screw' from restaurants.
Or food pantries, shelters, free meals, and food stamps.
Prolly forgot lots of big ones.. but you get the idea.

fried rice and frozen vegetables is always good for me...every now and then chip out for some sauces and a bulk bag of frozen chicken breasts. tastes good, healthy, and 10lbs of rice lasts foooorreeevveeerrrr.
o and ramen noodles are still a standby

For going on a crusade of the cheapest eating for the next month, I am thoroughly surprised that I haven't had any ramen yet. It's been sitting in my garage and I need to dive in for sure tomorrow.

Mi Goreng? Never had it, but from the pictures I see, it looks like a LOT of noodles. Is it a safe assumption that I would be having noodles 5 meals in a row?

I hate to jack a thread, but I find it rather funny that in your sig you can't afford spaces due to the economy (Hence no spaces in between words). Yet, there is a space in between the "o" and the "u" in "could".
Just thought I would let you know.
