shinto is the face of japanese buddhism from its first transmissions to the islands from china waaaay back....buddhism in general was discouraged and even the subject of pogroms in japan throughout the ages until acceptance of the new taoist thought which eventually became the zazen or zen schools......

Everybody\'s worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there\'s a really easy way: stop participating in it.

Sola, I never meant to imply that you were stupid, just trying to keep the post leading to the site short. I'm very sorry if I offended you.
I like to write poetry when I'm trying to figure something out; it helps me communicate with my whole being.
Maui', my dad just lost another of his long-time friends. Dad is 74 years old, and feeling the impact of out-living his wife and friends. He is still active; goes for a bike ride every morning, repairs clocks to keep busy, and alert. Here's something I wrote for him, when his bst friend died...
Passages in Time
The passing of Life to Light, brings many thoughts,
to those who stay behind.
In sadness, one reflects upon the empty,
darkened rooms in Time.
Happy moments make their way, un-tethered,
as Thought's breezes, wafting.
Graceful yearnings, for days gone by,
show images ever-softening.
When the hours turn to days, fleeting Memories
are touched in passing,
And all, it seems, Illusion brings,
the Heart's questions...asking,
"How does this fall to Me, to feel these things;
Life in all its Changing?".
Only know that for everyone, in everywhere,
the Universe is ever-lasting.
In quiet Time, and through daily Hurries,
we remember what is needed.
What sustains us all, is true for All; that Life and Love,
remain succeeded.
To think of times when Chance and Fortune,
grace without demanding,
Will help us through the Passages, those of us,
left Mourning standing.

The Moon is bright, enviting,
Night-Rider is out!

Dino, keep the faith, bruddah. Be strong for Mom, and I'll send prayers.
AZ, beautiful writing.
Chola, I was just trying to say, "it doesn't matter."

"Chola, I was just trying to say, "it doesn't matter.""
huh?!!!
my my my....my written communication needs an overhaul or something...
please don't apologize my skater bro's as i can't think for even one minute when i was even remotely offended by either of you!!....
The written word can be very ambiguous and therein lies the danger.
Without tone of voice, facial expression, body language to reference
it's easy to misunderstand. And I think that you misunderstood or something but I don't blame you guys for that at all....
ol dude, i got what you were saying...really....it's all good.
Dino, I can sympathize with the processing. I nearly last my dad after
finding him after 20 years only 6 months before. Scary **** seeing your
folks becoming vunerable wether it's natural or not.
mikey...give gramma lots of hugs when you can huh?
i might grab that book and come back to this thread with it...i couldn't
begin to write haiku near as well as any of you have.
5-7-5 or 7-5-7?

Scott e-mailed me; said I was the first person to e-mail him a haiku...
It's the first one on the site now.
(Don't run over all fast to see... it's the same one I started this post with.)

Found this link - http://lc.sbase20.com/linkc/lc1/go.php3?155 -- and thought some of you might be interested. They even have a haiku section. Could be fun! If you win, you could by us all new equipment! Keep writing the good stuff...
