He drinks a whiskey drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him of the better times

Flying around
as I plant my face in the ground
I think I should have stayed home
but them "happy" bladers rolling come
singing:
Young man, there's no need to feel down
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground
I said, young man, cause your in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy

Basho...
the other night i was looking at a book of Japanese Death
Poetry....
mikey, you might like it...alot of it is written by monks on their
way out ( though i don't know if we're talking Shinto or Buddhism
as I didn't look too hard...)

Chola, it's still Zen... (don't sic the Goth Hooligan on me, Mikey). When I was in Japan, I went to this HUGE buddhist temple that had a Shinto gate entrance on the side. Everyone hung, and placed little buddha's and incense in the same garden. No fights, no angst, no...
nothing but people sharing the moment, the joy, the pain, the memories and thoughts to come.
That which has been, will be again. This is merely a check-point in the rallye that is life.

I'm probably not the expert you are ol' dude..i don't really care one way
or the other to be honest...but I think the vast majority of japanese practice Shinto still..ancestor worship or whatever that is...alot of my family used to live there...and as far as differences between the religions go, like i said, i'm no expert but yeah...the feel i got from the little bit of poetry i stood and read was what you said, kind of what alot of people in any religion, or not, facing death do: deal with it and try to find some peace in the process....

My Father is old
The forest is ancient
I am the acorn
As I understand a Haiku, it relates our body and spirit to nature and the unescapable link to it on this plane. Three lines. I didn't get to read the link posted above with the guidelines. The server was being fussy. I'll check back later.
My Dad went into a "Nursing Home" a few weeks ago. Something I've been processing. He's just getting old and forgetful, and my Mom is old with a bone disease. She can't care for him with his bum hip, so in the home he goes, ten miles from my Mom and my bro that lives nearby.
I find solice in the poem I just wrote. I think I'll put it on the next deck I build for me to ride, and when I do ride it in the future I'll think of my Dad.
Thanks you guys for being part of that small yet signifcant event in my humble life.
