Guinness World Handstand Record
So i was thinking of beating that thing (much easier to do that on a longboard) which was set by Russ Howell , the distance seems small but then i emailed Russ and he told me what the record was all about, the problem thats he really didnt actually move at all. Here is part of his reply: " As for your question about the Guinness World Handstand record, my response may be disappointing. I know it was for me when I set the record. The folks at Guinness advertised an event where anyone could come to challenge existing records. At that time, I was doing handstands down long hills at speed (40mpg+) which lasted several minutes. When I arrived at the Guinness site, all that we were allowed was a small 30' x 30' asphalt area. All I could do was to kick into a handstand while the board remained motionless. That's much more difficult than when the board is moving. I held the static handstand for two minutes and to the best of my knowledge, that time has never been challenged; too bad because it would be easy for someone else to break the record if given a larger area."
The record would be easy to break if riding downhill or maybe even on the even pavement as long as there is some movement involved. But beating it in a still position and not moving at all thats just something else, i dont even know how they calculated the distance of the record which was something around 300 mt.

Go for it - sounds like a movie in the making. Being as i don't have a record book handy I'm wondering - is the record for time, or distance?
I'd like to see Russ doing 40mph downhills while in a handstand - now that's impressive!
Also impressive is Gary Hardwick's record of 62.5mph in a standup downhill run (way more impressive than the 70mph that that other guy did on a rocket powered street luge - although that would take some huevos grandes).
The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.

That's pretty cool that the guy responded to you. Have you found out what it takes to get the people from Guinesses to come out and measure the record? Do they charge you?
As far a the stand -up record of 62.5mph... I wonder if that's been broken but not documented. I know I haven't even come close to that speed but the way some people talk...

I say train your ass o fby doinga lot of upper body work out and go for the record t-step. That would be pretty sick. Speaking of records, does anyone know what the world record is for the longest longboard is? I was just curious, and that would be an intersting tid bit of info to know.

...
But thats where the problem is, i can break the distance record going downhill easy, maybe even on the flat ground but Russ did his in a static handstand for two minutes motionless, which is pretty hard to do. Thus the record doesnt make much sense, its simply a longest handstand record, no point of using the skateboard, if goin downhill or even on the fat ground (the way i think it should be done) is a totally diffrent thing.

The reason Guinness doesn't recognize a moving handstand is because of this tragedy from the last attempt:

Re: Guinness World Handstand Record
When I first when to Brasil there was a dude who busted out a handstand that he took from about mid-way up Teutonia's steep straight all the way down to the bottom, up the small hill and to a stop. Must've been about a kilometer long or so... Probably cooked up to about 60-70km/h and just locked it in. No helmet, just sunglasses and style.
