Finally, a wise man who knows and relishes his tea. A tea party it is.
Aarg.. I am not really the Real Santa Claus, I have a hook, a taped, paper beard and some times a duct taped beard, and am an imposter who gets intoxicated easily, tired as a dog now...time for my nap

tea for two
and two for tea
tea for you
and tea for me
best of all is tea for free
free for you
and free for me

Sola,
Many years ago; foil. Funny, but I just found a club here and was checking into prices. I'd really like to advance to sabre.
Why? What clicked your cute little trigger?

I fenced for 6 years competitively. Went to the Nationals in
Austin 3 years ago in sabre and all 3 in the NAC when it came to ft.lauderdale....( the NAC comps are by far the harder events...)...
I got out of epee after recieving quite a cut to my belly...yes, a cut
about 7 inches long...nothing serious but you know those blades
are very stiff and when he struck the point slid up under my jacket
and shirt...quite a tangled mess and rather painful....he was a beginner
and they're always the dangerous ones...zero point control but then
i should've been more aware myself...
after that i bailed for about 6 months then went back sticking with
the foil and the sabre...sabre's quite alot of fun and fortunantly, the
USFA has altered some rules to prevent those lazy flicks to the hand
from being scored...overall, i like foil even if it least resembles the
reality of sword fighting...your point control must be very, very good
if you're in a bout with someone who's any good...the helmets have
changed as well...the newer ones have plexiglass face masks, an attempt
to inject 'personality' into the fencers for marketing purposes in america...
who knows how sucessful they'll be?
i bailed out of again in 2000 after reuniting with my dad and getting a new
job...i go back occasionally to fence with the maestro but my knees
took a beating during those years of hard training ( 6x a week with
weight lifting etc ) so i'm trying to get 'em back on course...but it's
an expensive sport and having to choose between longboarding and
fencing...fencing loses
sorry for the long ramble fellow posters..but it's very rare i run across
another fencer.....

My brief history was back in the late 60's/early 70's. Never got to your level, but was "feared" locally. Now I prefer a longsword, or the occasion rapier/main gauche combo. But that's usually stage stuff.
I do, however, have a Springfield Armory Model 1914 battle sabre; 34" double-edged straight blade with a massive full guard. And my grandfather's West Point sabre. They are my prized blades.
