I went and checked out the e-mail address that I used for the Bam Scam. It was flooded with spam. Overflowing even. Big shock. Not one survey amongst them. I like the surveys. A neat little way to bend the world to my liking.
You still with us, Timmysweatpants?
Timmy?
No sheep were harmed in the making of this thread. Promise.
No Sea Monkeys either for that matter.
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! edit: maybe leadfoot shearing that sheep has some thing to do with it. chaos theory goes wallop bonking crazy when you pull shapes like that.
i've got a vague memory of the train journey revision session beforehand... wasn't there a book from a cereal box or something?!? nonono, i think it was the daily mirror's big book of facts. oh the satire!
amazing to see robbie coltrane feeding eclairs to an elephant. next stop hogwarts!
thanks for the trip down memory lane, great clips...
I haven't watched the Bambi episode in forever. I got the Young Ones DVD boxset and some of the bonus stuff is quite good. The one pilot show where they are flatmates and they buy the pheremone spray and go to the bar to pick up women is brilliant!
Your shorn sheep/cat is scary. Especially the grey sagging tits. Not flattering at all.
This is a great thread. You doubt the greatness? Sea Monkeys. Bam Scam. Sheep. Young Ones. It's got everything. Someone should nominate it for thread of the month. You even have numerous admitance of the fact that I suck and I am an idiot. Truer words have never been spoken or typed. This thread has even had claymation rarities and gingerbread men singing the blues. Did I mention the HOT SeaMonkey women? Thread of the Month I tell you. Thread of the freakin Month!
im dumbfounded at how long this thread has lasted.
Its a tribute to those that want to have a little fun, be a bit weird. And talk about stupid stuff.
..... and a sucker punch for those who want a free skateboard. Hahahaaaa
I think its just starting to get a few more regulars.
I love this thread.
I have had a celebrity crush for many years on this one lady from this band I like.
I once drove to Texas to see them play. While walking thru the crowd I happened upon her. Our eyes met. We said "hi" to each other. As we passed our sweaty arms rubbed and our butts rubbed together. Then we went on our ways. Later they put on one of the best performances I had ever seen them play.
It was a great show and I saw some girl there that looked like a punk rock Oompa Loompa. She was a midget with a Betty Page haircut died black. She had some cut off BDU shorts so it looked like her pockets were buldging out like an Oompa Loompa. Wish I had a camera that night.
But that has nothing to do with my crush. It was still kind of rad. Punk rock Oompa Loompa. That was almost worth the trip to Texas right there.
The woman that I have the crush on also looks somewhat like my wife I've been told.
It's good to have little fantasy crushes tho.
Oh Corin Tucker! This posts for you.
.....and mrs. sniffleless too.
.....and.......the punk rock oompa loompa where ever you are.
I'm sure there are free skateboards floating around.
They're hidden in the thread.
Hey in that Young Ones clip, that is the guy from House right?
And is the Posh school girl Emma Thompson or someone?
Now...
That Bette Page haircut sort of works really well on only a few girls doesnt it.
Traci Lords in Cry Baby was awesome with that haircut.
Some real rockabilly tattooed girls look great with that DO as well.
i've always had a bit of a thing for emma thompson (i shouldn't have said that).
hugh laurie is from 'house' (haven't seen it though, any good?)
basically that episode runs like a british comedy hall of fame.
mel smith (security) and grif rhys jones (bambi).
stephen fry (snoot) and hugh laurie (monty).
ben elton (mintcake) adn coltrane at the end.
not to mention the elephant who now appears at christmas in pantomimes to be fed festive baked goods.. .
smith and jones had a very successful double act, fry and laurie moreso (in my opinion).
elton is co-writer of the young ones and appears in a few other episodes.
elton also helped write 'blackadder' with richard curtis (four weddings and all the others, blahblah), and fry and laurie starred in that too. if you haven't seen it, it's pretty funny.
also worth looking at, 'not the nine o'clock news', it's satirical so may be considered a bit outdated, but they have some class songs!
elton was a very successful stand-up, he talks extremely fast. now he is raking it in writing musicals, books, shows, and making appearances.
both elton and fry are considered serious novelists (laurie wrote a book too, it was well recieved, i've not read it though).
as for other films, those that come to mind are:
'the tall guy', directed by smith, starred thompson.
'peter's friend's', with fry, laurie and thompson.
'wilde', with fry.
'v for vendetta', again fry.
this era of british comedy actors was pretty incestuous.
Hell yeah you win.
A night with Bette Page would be a good prize,
but I think in real life she would be about as scary as you would ever want a chick to be.
My wife loves House.
I pretty much hate TV these days, so when its on I'm down at the gym or here at the fish.
I loved that movie the Tall Guy. (even though it was crap) Elton was in that too right?
They had that stupid idea of a musical about the Elephant Man I seem to remember.
And one of the songs talked about the fog as being "a real pea souper".
"Morons from Outer Space", anyone? That space caravan?
Ben Elton is great. I think Americans would find difficulty with Bens accent. Heard his bit about having his sperm count tested? Classic.
Yep that was a great episode. I also liked the cameos from Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders in other Young Ones episodes.
we haven't had telly for a while now. i think it's a good thing to be without it! definitely frees up time, but then i think the internet has replaced tv for me... (i tend to go in and out of using it recreationally).
ben elton really makes me laugh, especially his old stand up. i haven't seen him on his sperm count but loved his communal fridge rantings!
i just had another look at that photo. what is that she's holding? initially i thought it was a hoe. but i've confused my tools.
is it:
a) a sea rake for extracting flotsam and jetsam?
b) a long sea trowel for trowelling out shellfish?
c) an old school harpoon?
d) a badly mad sea trombone?

betty page is shaped like a woman.
Its a great photo.
When I first saw it I thought it was supposed to be Neptunes Trident. (except the photographers cheap prop version made out of a garden trowel )
Now I look at it I can see its a spear with a rubber strap, and shes wearing a diving mask.
So I take c). old school harpoon.
I like the idea that its for trowelling out shellfish though.
yeah, it's got to be the harpoon!
that would be a shite trident.
although it would be worth learning to free dive if she was one of neptunes minions.
how can we change this thread from lovely ladies back to free skateboards?
sniff? where did you get to?
are you riding that radical cardboard invention (wasn't it free to you, ahaa!?!), or is the wife banning you from this curvaceous nonsense?
i reckon my partner will question what this is all about!!
