Its a public place, get over it!
Other people have just as much right to the paths as you do. As a general rule, the individual moving the fastest is responsible to avoid the people who are relatively slower or not moving at all. If you cant control the speed of your board, stay out of public places where people will get in your way.
You really should stop looking at the world in such a self centered way. Its all about view point. To those individuals, you were the crazed skater who yelled at them and nearly ran them over.
This type of behavior by skaters results in communities banning skating in public parks. You should be respectful, control your speed, and realize its your responsibilty to not hit people or even come close as to scare them, it is not THEIR job to stay out of YOUR way.

If someone smacked into a stroller I was pushing, they would not be the one doing the cussing, chasing and beating. That I can guarantee. :> The above story reminds me of the story a few days ago about someone skating in a full parking garage. Sounds like a great way to get skateboards banned. You have to be able to pick your times and spots. Why anyone would want to mix it up with john.q. public in primetime is beyond me.

Yeah, we have that same problem in the BX in season as well. You just have to take it in stride and laugh it off. You can get even by getting your own dog, putting a long leash on it and letting it pull you along until it gets itself wrapped around the small kids on training bikes, pretentious runners in expensive track gear and bike riders tricked out for the Tour de Poseur.

By the way, here is a pic of my stupid dog. He has a tendency to wander off the path all over the place, sniffleless after random mutant crotches and get carried off by flying crabs.
Although as far as dogs go, when in San Francisco, where bums are allowed to crap on the streets but having your dog do so will get you arrested, that whole sniffleless thing makes him quite popular with a significant demographic.
