nagging injuries?
How many people have a chronic, or long term injury that never seems to go away?
I've partially torn my rotator cuff twice, and really aggravated it again last night.
I know i cant be the only person on here with something like this.
I could fix my shoulder with Surgery, but i cant afford that, or the recovery time, so maybe when i'm older.

Re: nagging injuries?
I have a neck/collarbone pain that is about 6 months old from a failed rockwalk or cess slide attempt.
oh, yeah I have nerve damage in my right arm from stupidity (not skating related) that makes my pinky almost useless.

wait till your married... then you'll understand what a nagging injury really is.
torn rotators are what keep me from taking it to the limit racing these days... rest it up. then work it out.
if you can't understand what's right...
...there will be nothing left.

Thats what ive been tryin to do for 2 years now.
it likes to randomly pop doing the most mundane things, like pickin up my backpack.
Today is hard, i couldnt even lift my pencil up off the ground, after it fell off my desk, in class today. I had to turn 180* and grab it lefty

Same here... damn shoulder will be find doing vigorous activities. Sometimes, however, when I take off my backpack or high five someone my shoulder flies out of its socket. The reaction is hilarious. Priceless...

Yup, I twisted my ankle in November and now that foot naturally points inwards if I just set it down. Supposedly it's caused by not properly rehabilitating the ankle before making it work again. Ah well... it still locks up occasionally, but usually only after I've been sitting down for a while.

Re: nagging injuries?
Next month is a year since I broke my collar bone and it still hurts a few times a week. I just found out this morning I can push it in and out.
I sprained my ankle at the end of December and it still hurts and swells after every session.

Re: nagging injuries?
The nagging marriage issue was largely solved by an upgrade - residual pain centers around the last child and college tuition payments but that is abating daily.
Shoulder Impingement in both shoulders complicated by a history of trauma, rotator cuff problems, bursitis and having broken the left collarbone twice - More Trauma!
Middle, upper back permanent muscle sheathing tearing. Lower back - More Trauma!
More broken/mended/mis-mended bones and deformities than can be cataloged.
Mental retardation.
It's what it is B-Man. You get to keep those reminders of your activities. Some you can fix, more you just have to tough out, change your situation as Pave suggests, quit or some combination thereof.
Better get started learning complimentary physical activities. Sometimes just changing how you go about an activity turns abuse into therapy. Learning how to do that is a life-time pursuit. The old adage, "If it looks right it usually is" never seems more true so don't hesitate to practice in front of others who are genuinely good at doing what you are trying to do - not just copying those who bull their way through.
Make friends with as many orthopedics, physical therapists, physician assistants, trauma care workers, aerobics and yoga instructors (if you are a straight guy, most especially female ones) as you can or become some combination thereof yourself. That is a great way to help figure out what needs to be fixed, what can be fixed and what you're just going to have to gut out for as long as possible.
And always, always, always make sure you have plenty second, third, eighth and twelfth opinions before undertaking significant surgery to correct some of these problems. Orthopedics have gotten remarkably better in our generation alone (40+ year olds) but surgery is still not to be taken lightly when it comes to fixing some of these problems.

Re: nagging injuries?
im definitely not complaining. Dont get me wrong.
I wont sit here and cry about my dream of Minor league baseball being shattered. Thats life, im well over it.
I was just curious how many others here have similar injuries and still skate. I know many people who refuse to skate with me for fear of hurting an old injury, or making a new one.

There is an industry term for those types. We call them "pussies." Or "cowards" will do in a pinch.
I myself don't usually leave my apartment because something might happen to me.
