I know that there are a few others on here who are training to be a pilot...
My question is: Do you know of any schools that offer both Helicopter training and plane training?
I want to be a helicopter pilot, but i also want to be able to fly a little Cessna type plane where ever, and whenver i see fit...
Any recommendations?

Re: Pilots?
Helicopter training is 3X per hour then training in cessnas. Also from what I've heard from helicopter pilots, is flying is much more fun. Helicopters your always adjusting everything so you dont spin out of control.

I suggest you start saving your duckets cause getting both licenses would be tres expensive, but hey man Go FOR IT! You're lookin at at least $70 000 for both...

Thats if i pass every flight test, first try.
That's nothing...
I'm thinking doing private tours of the beautiful islands out here would be an awesome summer job
You'll need more then just a private to do that.
You'll also need your commercial. Flying is expensive, hopefully the Airforce will be paying for my instrument, commercial, cfi, cfii, multi, complex, and seaplane

I was taking lessons for awhile, only about 40 hours. I loved it. But its an expensive hobby. And its not like getting a drivers license. Pilots have to be kept current. Which means flying alot.
I went hang gliding once in North Carolina, my friend and I buddied up with a family from Toronto. Yeah, we got stuck with the Canadians, it was awesome. I'd like to go back sometime and train at the intermediate level.

my dad has this video of him flying around in this dinky helicopter with some Nam vet pilot inside a rock quarry. Trippy stuff. The echo of the chopper on the rock walls sounds like the devil talking to you if you play it backwards
oh, i know that...
It was more a long term goal, really.
as long as i can take myself up, im set for a while
That statement leaves out the most difficult part...Landing in an acceptable fashion is the key to flying! My dad(who has 23000 hours, thanks to the US Army Air Corps and later the US Air Force learned me that one in the 70's!! I've been flying since 1977 but haven't kept my liscense current since the mid 80's due to cost and time! I learned for a whopping 9.00 an hour (I only had to by the fuel for a Piper Cub!!!
You know what they say tho.."Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing"

Approach and landing was what I enjoyed most about flying. I would spend hours just doing touch-n-go's over and over around the pattern. I did manage to solo before I stopped the lessons. I never started ground school, tho. I kinda ditched it actually, kept putting it off. I just wanted to fly.
