What do the Californians think of the OC?

Over here on the east cost everybody wathches the damn show. I must admit that I have only missed one episode too. I dunno why I watch it. It's just funny how all the cool kids think that that's what California is like. I lived there until I was 5 and all I remember was not being able to to talk to my neighbors because they were drug dealers and everybody had terrifying dogs.

So what do you guys think of the show?

It's stupid but I can't take my eyes off the ******* tv.

yeah from my trip to california its an ok place but there are some scary people around. guess i shouldnt wander around san francisco china town at 3 in the morning alone though...

the oc represents probably 2 square miles of california. It pulls out all of the steryotypes to make a better show.

I goto SoCal occasionally.. yeah it's stupid & fake, but not as fake as the media portrays it. Hell, i live about 20 min south of San Francisco, and it's cold as HELL here, half of the time.. cloudy & boring. I do happen to live in a little trash surf town, but its still not THAT shitty. **** the OC, and the only good thing IN Orange County, is a Vans Skatepark.

There is another good thing in OC. My old backyard. It was all trees and I'd always ride my bike there and fall.

i hate that show... but what i really hate is that stupid theme song thingy... for some reason everyone here obsesses over it... they played it three goddamn times in this pizza place... california, california califorSHUT THE **** UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I lived in Orange County for a few years, (The squadron I was in was based at an air station there.) much of it is lily white, moderately racist and republican. That's not to say that there are no cool people down there. Orange County experienced a huge population explosion in the mid-late 80's, this was the result of people fleeing L.A. County due to overpopulation and the influx of "non-whites" from around the world. OC was supposed to be the promised land that had all of the benefits of the big city with none of downside. It's a land of shopping malls, disneyland and T.V. culture come to life. I'm sure there are plenty of kids down there that watch that show and then go to school the next day wearing the same clothes and talking the same s**t as the characters. My main problem with the show is the b.s. factor. Most people don't live like that, and the ones that do live that life don't act like that. (unless they see the show and go into "monkey see - monkey do" mode) Aside from that there's great surfing, (Newport, Huntington, The Wedge) and lots of snaking asphalt in the hills that's perfect for longboarding or seeing what a Carrera 4S can do. I agree that the show is fake and full of b.s., but that is why it is so entertaining. The characters problems are so ridiculous and exaggerrated, that they come off as funny. It is a lot of crap, but it is entertaining, and at least they pay writers and support the creative process, unlike reality tv, which, i think, is a lot of garbage. But who really cares anyway, watch what you want.

I liked that song back in 6th grade (Freshman now) Kids now think it's a new song and keep asking me if I've heard it...

yea i know, phantom planet is so awesome, that song is really not bad at all but its just old and overused now. lonely day is still a good song and turn smile shift repeat as well

The OC rulz!! that show is like a diary of my life.

not really, not at all actually, but that show was pretty cool the first few episodes just cuz i can recognize a lot of the places they're shooting at and places they talk about. Not to mention it's chalk full of amazingly hot chicks. The show is really far-fetched and goes overboard a lot but that's why it's so popular. There really are people like that in Orange County, a few spots anyway. Mainly north orange county like Newport where everyone is full of themselves and super rich. South orange county is the best. People are chill and super laid back. The beaches down south, except trestles, have cool guys who always share waves. stuck up Rich pricks do make me sick. I love living here though, perfect weather and the beach.

no really though, tv is good for two and only two things: monty python, and throwing out of an upper floor window to kill the assassin who has been hunting you for weeks. good thing for me people usually miss...

i dont enjoy soap operas, i dont watch the OC. i tend to agree with CRASS, i really dont watch anything besides an occasional DVd .
