Re: The Guitar thread!
The First Act is a one of a kind guitar that was built by First Act guitar studios in Boston. They also make starter guitars that you can buy in Wal-Mart. The second toggle switch works in tandem with the first. It alows you to get basically any pickup combination you would ever want. It's a confusing yet at the same time intuitive switching setup that I really can't explain any further. I get that a lot about how it could've been one of Jerry's guitars. In fact it was used by Les Claypool in a film called Electric Apricot that hasn't been released yet. If memory serves the film was about a jam band from the 60s. I actually took all these pics to post on a guitar forum I frequent but I figured the folks on the fish would also enjoy them.

Great collection!
For some reason, I have alwys been a one-guitar-man and currently a use a Fender 56`Relic as my weapon of choice.
But I always had a taste for great amps, I still have a 50w 67` Marshall Plexi, and two custom amps (Trainwreck and Dumble "clones") even if I`m not that active anymore.

Trainwrecks used to be made like 20 minutes from my house growing up. I remember them being in this little guitar shop - Ken used to make them in the back. My friends and I used to call them "those wooden heads that the guy in that little shop makes" Who knew they would be worth tens of thousands of dollars today? ANOTHER thing I shoulda bought when I was young!!!!!

Yeah man. I had the privledge of playing thru a trainwreck at a guitar show once. Holy crap!!!! Then I said the same thing when the guy told me the price! lol. As far as amps I've got an old Music Man RD100 head and a Carvin Legacy head. I run em thru a fender 4x12. I really need to get a better cabinet.

Good stuff! I haven't picked up a guitar if forever. I was never any good, but used to like screwing around. Sold most of mine to rebuild a motorcycle engine. I kept the Les Paul Custom, Guild jumbo accoustic and my first; Kramer Focus 3000D. Painted up like Van Halen's candy cane.
The Steve Vai autograph makes the nickname make sense. Is it a Jem 777 or something?
Keep on rocking (and rolling! Lol)

The actual model of the Jem is 7VWH, it's an 02 which is one of the last years that they got ebony fingerboards on them. Yeah he named the guitar and wrote it on there when I met him after he played a week or so ago. He's a really cool genuine guy. Didn't get to talk to him as much as I would've liked but oh well.

Re: The Guitar thread!
Right on! Another Ibanez fan. I've been playing Ibanezs for many a years, they are great guitars, you just gotta stay away from the Korean and Indonesian made ones, and obviously stick to the made in Japan ones. Nice collection you've got there. My main axe as of now is an Ibanez RGA121, i've always loved ibanez guitars, but have been using floyds for many years, and just got tired of them, and much prefer the ease of use and allowance for quick drop tuning that the hardtails allow. Its good to see another guitar player and an Ibanez fan on the fish!

Re: The Guitar thread!

cheapo strat copy, BC Rich NJ Warlock, Ibanez hollwobody electric, and a Johnson acoustic that sounded a lot better than all the rest of the same.

Too bad Ken Fischer passed away last year

Re: The Guitar thread!
I think I have a couple of Ibanez guitars, I gotta look.
I know I have an Iceman and I think I have a Destroyer too. And I have a Casio MIDI guitar, that was made by Ibanez too I think. I might have an Ibanex bass too, I don't remember. I think I loaned that to someone.
Good stuff though!
yeah, it's a shame about Ken. I think he was sick for awhile, that's why he stopped making Trainwrecks.

Re: The Guitar thread!
I currently have a crappy squier strat, which I'm in the process of breaking, due to being obsessed with DEVO, and owning a jigsaw.
On my wishlist though (totally hypothetical for the time being):
- A Steinberger. If it works for Bill and Ted (And Gerry Casale), it works for me.
- A Fender Jaguar
- Dan Armstrong Lucite
Also being left handed sucks. Guitars are hard to find for me.
Nice thread!

Nice thread!
I had a fender jaguar for a while. It was a great guitar but I ended up trading it in for the japanese strat. Oh if you guys want to see some clips of the first act in that movie check out electricapricot.com or myspace.com/electricapricot. They have a trailer on the myspace. It's really weird to see a guitar that I own in movie trailers. Not just the same model but the exact guitar. I love Ibanez guitars. Those and Fenders. I've also recently discovered Gretsch and they're now a close third. I'd kill for an old duo jet.

Re: The Guitar thread!
OK. Here's my 2 babys.
The Gibson Firebird is from 1962 (one year older than me) and it shows. Pretty dinged up. I've owned her for almost 25 years. The previous owner removed the original pickup and replaced them with an old PAF humbucker. That ruins her value to collectors, but man does she sound fine. I should taker her out more, but she spends most of her time in the case these days.
The resonator is a 1935 National Duolian. She's the apple of my eye. In this case, the previous owner sandblasted and refinished her, destroying her value to collectors (that's the only reason I could afford her). But her neck is straight and true, and sings with sweet sound of the muddy Mississippi. I know it's polite to let other people play your instruments, but I feel anxious when anyone else puts their hands on her!

I'd love to get my hands on a nice old resonator. I love to play slide guitar. I know how you feel I get anxious anytime anyone picks up the jem or the first act. In most cases I have to have known the person for a bit before I even consider saying yes.
