Seeking help from Star Wars geeks
Star Wars trilogy dvd set ep IV, V, VI

These two are both widescreen versions. I don't know if the different packaging is for collector's purposes or what, but for those who own either; is this set the original movie release or the ones with the bullshiet CGI scenes integrated in it?

The copies I downloaded were the newer version with the "updated" CGI.

CGI versions. the ones made back in like 1999. I have the originals in a VHS box-set though. Last time they were released on VHS.

Has there been a theatrical version put to dvd? Something that ol' Georgie hasn't raped.

Re: Seeking help from Star Wars geeks
I don't think they have the original theatrical versions on DVD.

Re: Seeking help from Star Wars geeks
I own that, but I can't find it.
To my rememberance, the box on the left holds the 3 movies and one special features DVD, when slides in the box on the right. So on one end you see Star Wars Trilogy, and on the other you see IV, V, VI.
It has the new scenes added in. Like Greedo shooting first, the stupid song in Jabba's Palace, and much more.

Re: Seeking help from Star Wars geeks
If they do have one it's the box on the right, the box on the left is the CGI scenes and such.

Re: Seeking help from Star Wars geeks
to get the original, un-cut eps 4,5,6 -- buy each of those as INDIVIDUAL disks, not a box-set.
which is to say,
the "bonus material" on the new, individually-sold DVDs are the original cuts.

That being said it is indeed the most recent CGI'd versions. It's 4 disks, 3 movies and 1 behind the scenes/special features disk.
this is correct, i just checked mine...

Re: Seeking help from Star Wars geeks
The box w just Vader has the Trilogy with the extra scenes and a bonus disk. >See here<
The box with the old school poster image is also the Trilogy with extra scenes, but without the bonus disk. >See here<
Disks like >this< have the digital remaster of the original theatrical release and the one with the extra CGI scenes.

Re: Seeking help from Star Wars geeks
I got to see my neighbor's 2 disk dvd(original and remastered) and I must say I am very disappointed. The original film to dvd format looked like a 10 year old did it with his 70's VCR. IT'S CRAP, STAY AWAY! If you like the original trilogy stick with your old VHS tapes! Now I don't mind buying the remastered trilogy.
