I took a bad fall on 5/24/2008 at Mt. Baker, went off the road and fell down the side of the mountain. I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.
I survived that mountain because of my helmet...WEAR ONE and send your family to the hospital, not the morgue.

Re: Another Tragic Loss...NIU loses 6
people shouldnt promote this stuff, this is why it happens. the media puts the killers face on all the newspapers and shows, and even on longboard sites. now hes famous, or shall i say infamous- we cant do anything, hes dead and everyone will know him. we shouldnt be promoting this stuff is all im saying IMO. it only gets worse
stinee, i also agree with you in helping someone or a friend who needs help to prevent things like this from happening.
my condolences to the 6 who died and the rest who were hurt. but please, do not promote things like this, we already see things like this on the news- please dont put it on a longboarding site

Whether you're religious or not, think about them tonight before you go to bed.
This has to stop. Wake up people and look around you. This sort of thing doesn't just come out of nowhere. Reach out and look around you, if someone needs help don't just put them out of mind. 6 more students are dead and countless lives have been affected once again because of the apathy of our generation.
well stated. this a terrible social issue that is very sad and upsetting. may our hearts go out to all of those that have suffered from this year's events, every time i look at cnn.com it seems like another shooting has taken place. i agee with you a_speck_of_dust as well. its important to know that it is going on, but it is not important to bring fame to such an event.

so youre suggesting that the problem should be ignored, and people should not hear about it? that sounds like more of a problem than solution.

im saying we shouldnt glorify it as horrible and tragic as it is. not to ignore it.

I agree. I dont know the reason behind why these people commit mass murders, but when the people capable of such a thing see these killers all over the media, it might make them want that type of attention. Just like the shooter at the virginia tech massacre claimed that the columbine shooters were his inspiration, they may see this as their only way to get noticed.
just my thoughts....

My condolences, too. R.I.P.
Ignoring the problem will not help. Confronting the issue is the best we can do, and your thought process is almost forced ignorance.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

Yes exactly what i was thinking. Some crazy guy just like this one could be watching the news and see that 6 have been killed and will want to make his name in history by killing 7. Its a never ending cycle...

The people who do these things might be more sane than you are. If youve ever been to insanity and back than you might understand. I've had some crazy experiences where I've realized just how insane sanity is. Everything is relative and it's all based off of assumptions. I'm not saying this doesn't suck I'm just saying people don't see it from the other side. But I do agree that #### is ####ed up and changes should be made to our society. Believe me I am very firm in that because the media sucks and the education system sucks and people are stupid cows just following the rest of the herd to the slaughter being led by those who have power. It's all a game. Just don't play it.

condolences to all the people affected, and although speck made a good point(hate to say it), these things cant be ignored. Ignoring something never makes it go away, in my mind situations like these should be more of a call to arms for people to notice things.
