    Default Durable Cell Phone???

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but hell it's longboarding related. I have AT&T (formerly cingular) and I'm looking for a phone that can take the beating I regularly dish out. For safety and practicle reasons I prefer to keep my cell with me at all times, including when I'm out tearin' it up. I had a walmart phone that was sick and stood up to mroe than most, even survived a 2 story drunken drop from a balcony followed by "oops it was on my lap when I stood up"... But alas, it died recently. Anyone know of any current, durable, "beat the #### out of me" phones??

I wouldn't call this general longboarding,

anyways, the Nokia phone. Don't know the name, it's the basic one. I had one in like 6th grade but they have newer ones now. When I was getting a new phone i tried to break it and it wouldn't. I just called it the Nokia brick. If your looking for function over looks, its good.

Or just get a damn case, thats like 15 bucks. The plastic ones that clip on to you so they can't break.

Let me introduce the GzOne, after loosing many a phone to break, soak, and other hazards of life I got this phone. It's ugly as sin, but you will not find a more durable phone.

Uh, not. I've been through two quickly. Screen cracks really easy. They have problems with elevation cause bad manufacturing and the battery will short if it gets too cold because of wiring placement. To skinny and can snap in half.

I would say they're one of the worst cell phones made from my experience.

The Rough And Tough Siemens M75 Outdoor Phone - Mobiledia
looks like a highish end one

Motorola i580 Specs & Features (Phone Scoop)
this one is supposed to be tough

    Compare Phones (Phone Scoop)
these two are pretty tough, not really built to be a tank, but they are durable anyway
i think they are both offered by at&t also

I have a Sony Ericsson P1i... It's takes its share of abuse, but as a general rule I try to not bring my phone with me all the time. I have a smaller phone (Samsung t519) that's pretty ####### slim (moreso than a razr, and it's a candy bar phone), but the LCD is all screwed so I use it as a beater when I know I need it and I'm going out.
Nokia makes durable ####### phones... And they used to make shock-rated, water resistant ones... Who knows why that didn't continue.

I have a PDA Phone with an aluminum shell over it. I have fallen right on it and there was no damage to the phone. I just had to bend the shell a bit to correct it.

This is a link to one pda shell company but there are shells for many brands and types of cell phones.

    Razr's are flimsy like paper!

Any flip, slide, spin turny phone is going to be inherently weak. The strongest phone shape is the 'candybar' form function, like your Nokia brick (I had one - bombproof but HEAVY!)

The best phone I have ever had is the Sony Ericsson W810i - simple, good camera, looks trick, MEMORY CARD SLOT plus its a walkman phone.

I got an upgrade to the W880i and it was rubbish - I downgraded immediately!!! Got myself a ''new old'' phone, 2gb memory card and away you go.

    Solid, cool and practical

Dang I should get paid by sony ericsson!

No offense, but in my personal experience and the experience of many of my friends, these guys are like china, they break like nobodies business...

Malakai and spencer, I'm liking the looks of that guy. it may be ugly, but as far as cell phones go I definately need something up to a good beating...

EDIT: Is this phone available to AT&T subscribers??

Do not get a razr, what ever you do. They are pretty durable but they are horrible in cold weather and at elevation.

I had a nokia "brick" for a while, and I could literally throw it into the air 20 feet, let it hit the ground, and not find a scratch on it.
My provider automatically upgraded me, and sent me a new Nokia, this one is a bit more sleek, looks a lot nicer, 1/3rd the weight, yet it's still insanely durable.

But since then I'm now using a Moto SLVR - It's a nice phone, haven't beat it up too much yet, but it's stood up to everything so far..

All those phones have been bar phones, I'm just not a fan of flip-phones..
As was said before, bars are most durable, anyway.

    To this, finally:

I think the razr thing was a joke, but I think my friend has the GzOne or something similar, it is a brick, but very reliable, it's water resistant and quite durable.

o yea, i think my friend has an lg trax? and he actually bounces it on the ground and throws it at people on a regular basis, attempting to break it. It's like a hobby, chucking his phone at the ground, but it never breaks

    it's called the LG CU500v
It has a metal caseing and has taken a few good hits. I smashed my screen but that took a while and the plastic was so thick that just the plastic was smashed. The screen was ok.
I don't know if they make it anymore but I love my phone
check it out, I am sure you can find it online.
