Lets create a journal here, what motivates fashion skaters to take the actions they take?

one of them, its deeper, what psychological stimuli has forced them to do such things?
do they wish to be skilled without having to practice so they buy gear that may aid them?

Another point to make is that fashion skaters tend to go with the trends of Silverfish.

Re: Chapter 1~Fashion Skaters: What is their motivation?
People ride on pieces of wood with wheels. These same people sometimes like to not be naked. Clothing is required, obviously. Because of their fascination with wheeled boards, they sometimes buy shoes that aid in their activity, and tend to gravitate towards the other clothing available within these retail outlets. The end.
Anything else said is pretentious and elitist, and I'm sick of hearing that from people who claim to be involved with a sport that is all about 'spreading the stoke'.

None of you asshats are in the hammers shadow but, I will say the new year will bring some forum changes, one of which will be much stricter enforcement of the general anti-hater TOS rules.

Absolutely! You are the trucks you ride, you are the boards you own and you are the wheels that you have. However, I have met less fortunate fashion skaters. Therefore, money has little to do with it.

Here's another question. Why the hell does it bother people that there are fashion skaters? Who cares what someone else does unless it directly effects your life.

Maybe one good effect:
More money spent on the industry=more money for R&D (hopefully)=better sh*t for the people who can tell the difference.

If by fashion skater you mean some one who carries around a longboard as a fashion accessory then the answer is no, never. Having spent most of my life in central California, coast and valley, I can say honestly I have never met some one holding a longboard because they think it makes them look cool. Shortboards yes, longboards no.

I think they're talking about all kinds of skating but... ya. I don't know about the ones down there... but the ones up here are all talk and no c*ck if you know what I'm saying. It just gets kinda annoying. It's not just the tryhard skaters though.... it's everything. I've encountered them in biking and lots of other areas.

Re: Chapter 1~Fashion Skaters: What is their motivation?
poor skaters are NOT jealous of rich skaters its the other way around, so the rich ones buy all the carbon, aero and precision stuff
