Any good cop stories?

^^^ Awesome. I've always wanted to make a spud gun. But the cops would totally confiscate it and/or put me in jail if I shot that thing off here. We can skate and not be harassed, but anything remotely related to weaponry turns off the cops' tolerance button.

Last year me and some buddies were hanging out around my friends car outside of the gym. He wanted to show us a new knife he bought. This guy is serious about his knives. He thinks nothing of spending hundreds on a single knife. So, he wanted to show off his new pride and joy. He pulls it out of his car and we all "ooh" and "aah" over it. Meanwhile a lady who can see us is sitting in her car calling the cops. She apparently feels threatened by us. (Mind you - I live in an upper middle class area. We're not in the ghetto here by any stretch of the word.) So, this cop arrives and immediately tells us to stand against a wall with our arms up. He draws his gun and points it at me. My arms start shaking (we'd just finished our arm workout and I was DEAD tired) and he says, "You nervous, son? Why are you shaking so much?" I say, "We just finished our arm workout and my arms are tired." He retorts with, "Well, this gun is getting pretty heavy. My arms are getting tired too." All I could think was, "I hope I don't get shot. I hope I don't get shot..." In any case, eventually he put his gun away after searching us all. Nobody had any other weapons. Luckily he let us off with a warning.

But if I had a spud canon in my car I would've been screwed.

Mine's not a cop story per-se. It's more of a crazy old guy trying to run me down with his car story. So I've just gotten back into street skating. This is about 4 or 5 years ago. Naturally all my old skills have gone out the window. So I'm at this parking lot at the town park practicing ollies and pop shuvs and just generally getting comfortable standing on a board again. So this guy pulls into the parking lot and peels around and goes over an embankment/curb in the middle of the lot his car bottoms out on it and there's sparks and grinding noises. Naturally I'm standing there thinking "What the hell is this guy doing?" Wasn't standing there long as I realized he was making this dangerous and costly manuver to line himself up perfectly with yours truely. Tires squeel and his car heads for me and I basically pissed myself then ran like hell. "Yeah you better run you F*cking skatboarder." It's easy to talk tough when you're trying to run down someone with your car. after I had vacated the premises he left. Naturally, nearly getting ran over is enough to spoil anyones stoke for the day so I got in my car and headed home.

I had the cops called on me for throwing a rock at a kid who lit me up with his paintball gun while i was in my driveway playing basketball. I was the one who got in trouble, even though my entire shirt was green and I was shot in the face. (The rock hit his arm and cut him...)

One time I had to pick up a sibling from an activity in another town. Since the parking lot is ALWAYS crowded at pick-up time my sibling knows to wait til everyone leaves, then come out. While she waits for everyone, I usually drive around to pass the time. This one day I was literally on E, so I parked in a nearby school parking lot (no signs saying I couldnt). All my windows were open, music was on low, and I was on the phone with my mom when I look into my rearview to see a cruiser parked behind me and an officer getting out. He proceeded to come up to my car, told me to get off the phone, and step out of the vehicle. I kept the phone on for the half hour he proceeded to ask me questions (meanwhile my sibling is waiting). Asking me about school, drugs, my criminal record (related back to the rock... was dropped). Just pointless questions. After answering every single one of them he asked if i wanted to know why he stopped me, of course I said yes. His response was that the area I was in was known for loitering and activity and the neighbors generally call the police so he wanted to talk to me to see what i was doing. He then apologized for holding me up from picking up my sister. My mom heard the whole conversation and made a complaint, as he was quite a d-bag and nasty at first.

i was living in palmer were now it is illegal to skate on the sidewalks. so we were forced to find a spot to skate(longboards and skateboards). so this guy owned a empty lot which he turned into a nice little place to skate. well after a while all the drug dealers and supposable "gangster" hung out so that caught the cops attention so they patroled it accasionally. well one day i was there doin my thing when a a cop comes flyin at us pulls out his gun yells "FREEZE DROP THE WEAPON" i was scared ####less so i did as i was told, but behind me a kid had a 6 inch switch blade pulled out. so the kid dropped it the cop took it an explained that he thought the boy was threatening the other kid and let all of us go back to skatin.

The last run in i had with the cops was at this parking garage in downtown san jose, the one right next to the Dr. Martin Luther King library. its probly the best garage around, 7 stories, steep, smooth pavement. So my friend and i are there doing our thing for about two hours or so, when as we're turning around the next bend about to hit the next ramp, a cop car is turning around the same bend in front of us heading up the ramp. So my friend and i step off our board before we start picking up speed on the ramp, and the cop pulls up to us and basically says "hey dudes, i know what you're doing is fun and all, but technically, im supposed to kick you out, so, sorry, but pick up your board and walk them outta here"

pretty nice cop i have to say, i expected him to be one of those guys who take their job too seriously, but surprising enough he was a pretty respectable guy. it kind of shocked me that someone his age was actually pretty understanding

after the cop had his breif speech, i shook his hand, said thanks for not busting us and we walked out.



another occasion in the same garage, a few of the security staff members wanted to watch the same friend and i do our runs down the ramps, so we did a few runs for them to watch, and then they said that they're supposed to make us leave, but they told us the best time to come back to the garage, they told us that around 9am-11am or so on saturdays the garage is practically empty

the world needs more people like them imo. my latest run in with downtown parking garage security wasnt too fun. the fat old indian guy who took his job too seriously radio'd us into the whole h.q. they had, so after like 5 minutes of dealing with him pissed off, we just walk out the way we came in, we never even stood on our board in that garage

back in october a bunch of us were skating in New Jersey along a highway. There was a decent group of us, probably at least 9-10 guys. I am out in front in full tuck and full gear (leathers/fullface/gloves) and this State Cop sees us and starts pulling out of this traffic circle we have to go through. He was inching forward and I was afraid he was going to pull out in front of me and completely #### me up. He decides to stop short, and it was especially scary since I was out front. He is blaring on his PA to pull over and throw the boards on the grass. Luckily, Scott (swinging neckbreaker) got out and tried reasoning witht he cops. They were douches who thought we were setting up kickers along the highway to launch off. *sigh*

He said that rollerblading and cycling are legal, and that we should write the government or something.

Should've called him on BS.
Skating is fully legit in Jersey.
