    Wow, I wasnt aware the author lived in Newport News as well.........virginia is surprisingly well populated with longboarders.

    I'm not exactly sure how it works mechanically, but it does pretty good of slowing you down without throwing you off the board. On the remote (which is just like an RC car remote minus the steering wheel) just press up on the trigger.

    Would love to get one but not for $1000. Pushing is good exercise anyway. Exkate makes great products.

    An R/C Car speed controller can put a load on the motor when the "throttle" is released to act as a brake. Maybe the electric skateboard works the same.
