Here's an example:

Lets keep things simple, say there was only 100 people.
98 percent of them had an attention span of 10 seconds
And 2 people had attention spans of 5 hours (18000 seconds).

You add those numbers up and get 18980.
Divide by 100. You get 189.8 seconds.

So the average attention span is 189 seconds.
Then 98% percent of people have a less than average attention span.
