college in california, should i go?
im going to school in south carolina right now (instate) for next to nothing, but ive got an itch to travel out west. im going into my sophomore year now, and i feel like im at a turning point. i have been trying to decide whether i should make my parents mad and myself financially bankrupt to travel out west, or if it isn't better to wait until graduate school to move out there.
i want to move to central or northern california because i'm tired of having to travel for good hills, im tired of this humidity, of crappy surf, and just the same ol' same ol'. i want to stay here for another three years because 1) its cheap 2) my girlfriend and 3) its cheap.
what should i do? i know asking life advice on an internet messageboard probably isn't the greatest idea, but there is few other places where i can get prospectives from so many people from so many places.
choice 1) graduate and then move, california will always be there
choice 2) move out there tomorrow

Re: college in california, should i go?
From the financial standpoint - unless you can get bukkits of scholarship money, out-of-state tuition will kill you until you die from it. You can get student loans, but then you leave college already owing tons of money.
On the plus side, if you go to school out in Cali, you can major in sunshine and minor in sand. How hard can that be?

Re: college in california, should i go?
I say wait until graduate school. California isn't THAT great that you should spend close to/more than 40,000 a year going to school here. 3 years will be short, I'm going to be a 3rd year this coming fall and I have no idea where my first 2 years went.

Re: college in california, should i go?
dont be an idiot. finish your undergraduate college relatively debt free, then head out and do whatever. or at the very least get bomb ass grades through your sophomore year then try to transfer to a cali college as a 3rd year transfer. at least in the UC system that what a lot of ppl do. but be warned, out of state tuition WILL rape you.

Re: college in california, should i go?
I just moved out to California for the summer. That is definitely worth doing. But as others have said, going to school here is waaaaay expensive, so think long and hard (giggity) before you make a decision.
