I'm a failure in math and i really need help. Its been 10 weeks of non stop longboarding and i basically forgot a lot of my math. My teacher EXPECTS us to remember every formula we learned in the past 2 years to see if we deserve to be in algebra 2. So i ask you...how do i find the area of the base of a pyramid? For example. finding the volume of a pyramid would be 1/3bh but whats the area of base?

Finding the area of the base, is just like finding the area of anything else.
If its a square base, length x width
If it's a triangular base 1/2 length x width
Possibly the simplest formula ever...

oh wow, your right. i just stared at the bottom on the triangle and slapped myself. I do know these things but remembrance is something im terrible at. Thanks! its 1/2 b h though

Math is simple.. just think logically! And I agree with "make up your own formulas" I was a 4.0 student in all aspects of math, but my weakness was showing my work, because I did it in different ways than the text required.

+ 1 I barely ever study, because I don't need to grind the formulas into my forehead, while managing to get good grades.

dont try and remember the formulas, figure out what they mean and understand them, then you can just derive your own formulas.

That's the most important part about taking math and physics courses. They teach you to think analytically. I don't know how many times in my adult life I've needed to calculate the volume of a pyramid, but being able to think, analyze, and solve problems has been a real valuable skill.

one of the most enlightening things i learned in university was that there are only 3 dimensions to anything. Distance (length), Time (difference), and Mass.
speed is distance over time, acceleration is distance over time over time, force is mass times distance over time over time. work is all three.

you gotta learn how to cheat man!!!!!!! Even though i was in all the AP classes (except math), we were especially smart when it came to cheating. Math is harder to cheat on but if you have one of those big TI-83 type calculators you can type your forumlas right in there.
