Hardcore and casual are marketing schemes used by capitalist corporations to sell products and thus make money. They're deployed as systems of categorization meant to induce feelings of belonging among one group defined against another group. Works all across the board.
I heard they're going to make it like 3 hours long to try to get as much as they can into it. Supposedly Kevin Smith already saw (some of) it and said something like "This is ####### awesome."
Watchmen is very, very high on my list of best books evar.

If you want to know how to turn that story into a movie, track down the first season of
'The Outer Limits'. I'm almost positive its the very first episode, but I know it was in the
first season.
Note: I'm not talking about the new one--I mean the old black and white one. The one
that pre-dates 'The Watchmen' and tells the same basic story in under an hour.
Not knocking 'The Watchmen'--I thought it had some cool stuff going for it. But for me,
it wasn't that original of a plot. Just more than was usually found in a comic.

I'm calling it right now that the movie is going to be awful - assuming it even gets released due to the sh!tstorm FOX is kicking up about it:
1) The material is far too dense for one movie. If anything the structure of the story itself calls for a two-parter, even a trilogy to make sure there's decent coverage on film.
2) I'll bet money that the ending will be considerably altered, if not changed entirely, for being too Nine-Eleveny. Something like in the scrapped 80s script where the climactic action is an attempt to assassinate Dr. Manhattan to alter the timeline a la BttF.
I remember when V For Vendetta came out and people were up in arms about how awful it was compared to the book. I had no idea what they were talking about, then I read it myself. Beyond Alan Moore's personal dislike of adaptations to his work, his material simply dosen't seem to translate well into the confines of movies.

I just finished my current book and was looking for something new to read. Can someone tell me who wrote this, I searched my college library and the only thing I found was Watchmen - Alan Moore (1953) which we don't even have available. Is this the right book? Thanks in advance.

Weird, that dosen't make a whole lot of sense. Alan Moore did write Watchmen but a good three decades after the date you have listed. I'd check up on the listing to make sure, it could be a typo on the publication year or something.
