Avon Breast Cancer walk 2008
Dear fellow Fishies,
First of all, I am going to be up front with everyone. This thread is asking donations for a good cause. I really feel terrible about asking for donations over the internet, but with only 49 days left until the walk, I still have $275 more to raise and no more friends to ask. I realize this may be somewhat unethical and I really feel bad about it. But my experience on the fish has shown me that overall you guys (and girls) are almost always willing to help out, especially for a good cause.
My mom began doing these walks several years ago, simply to celebrate being healthy and to support a good cause. Since that time, several people close to our family have been diagnosed, almost giving us a reason to continue the walks. This will be my first walk since it is the first year I'm old enough. I will be walking with my mom and her good friend in Charlotte, North Carolina. The walk is 2 days long and a total of 39 miles!
Every year Avon sponsors several of these walks in different locations around the country. Each one has thousands of men and women of every age participating. Many are survivors, or are diagnosed with breast cancer and many are there for support. Each walk raises millions of dollars to go towards breast cancer research.
Each individual walker must raise a minimum of $1800. As of now I have $1525. Unfortunately most of my friends are teenagers and have little money to spare. So I am asking all you fishies for help. It's for a great cause and it will be greatly appreciated. (and if it helps, it's tax deductable)
