I guess I'll choose this one, although it was a tough decision for me.

My theme suggestion is to get more specific with them ex. people outside, people outside enjoying a sunny day, people outside enjoying a sunny day with loved ones or friends. Just examples on specificity not trying to recommend those as themes. A little more specific or a lot more specific. Just my thoughts. Anyway...

Its not the coolest shot of the person but i think that wall hes standing in front of is amazing. (btw thats Holyroller, my beloved bag of Douche)

No edits to make this photo "pretty." (added a warmer filter color to liven up a dying man) The only other edit was the pixel size from 4400 down to 1500.

This was taken last week while I was at "Pearl" during the anniversary week at the memorial. He is a Pearl survivor. Hardly anyone came up to him and asked him any questions nor took his picture. Even the surroundings (table, cones) were left in the picture as to minimize his impact on us....ALL of us.

You would think they would put him on a stage with thousands of flags behind him, honoring a man (men) that survived what is now and will forever be a national treasure. As long as he lives.

So a title for this picture..We honor the dead more than we honor the living.

I will post "pretty" pictures in the future contests.

Nope. Thats it. I was on my way out when I noticed two survivors at this table. (there was one other survivor to his left and he had someone who was willing to talk to him. My guy was alone. (I had about 1 minute to run to my bus)

Composition: Did you notice the background? As I was posting here on the fish' (thumbnail) I noticed the background. WEIRD!

For you hardware freaks. I am using a G10.

a little croping and some black and white i think could make that pic look really amazing, it could draw out that back ground a bit. i love the "do not remove" thing right behind him.. just gives so much more impact to the whole thing.

would you mind if a borrowed that and did a little editing?

I was talking about the blue sign and the "stripes" on the wall. Its like there is a flag waving in the background. I guess I am the only one who can see that.

Don't get me wrong David, I agree we can 'shop da ell out of the pic, but I am all about the environment that surrounds that pic AND the weird lighting in the background.

I could not help but weep the whole time I was there. It was so sad and then to see this survivor and the cheap ass way they had him on "display," I chose to let this pic ride as is. Not just here but when I post it on my Flickr account too.

Both my grandfathers were in the Navy. One on the USS Texas and the other The Saratoga.

GPymp, probably an opportunity missed for a really striking photo. Could've been a really moving shot, just looks like a snapshot though.

No argument here Lexx. I am just glad I got a shot of a survivor, and to visit the memorial while "they" are still alive. I am not sure how many of them are left.

Side note: After I took his pic, I said thank you and was about to run for the bus..he said " I didn't break your camera..Did I, ?"

After I made it to the bus..and thought about what he said...I thought it so stupid of him to say such a thing. Especially where he was sitting now and where he was sitting/standing on his ship on 12-7-1947.

Sorry for the sap guys..like I said, I was moved just being there. And obviously just to get this one single picture of him.

OK back to the real photo's...
