    Default should i snowboard?

Well, my family is planning to go skiing soon, and ive done that plenty of times, but i never snowboarded! Considering that i skate, will snowboarding be difficult for me? I've always wanted to try it. Biggest problem for myself may be getting onto the lift. Anyone wanna give me tips on what to do and how to snowboard? thx
I saw the advantage and took it, thats what heroes do.

Getting on the lift, front foot in bindings, back not. just sit on the lift and ride up. then point your board forward when youre getting off and put your back foot between both bindings.

When I first went, I could carve down blues on the first day. Its different than longboarding, I didnt longboard when I started snowboarding. you need weight over the front food, and you basically steer with the back. You should get the hang of it pretty quickly since youve probably been longboarding for atleast a year or so.

Word. actually doing it is the best way to learn though.

Youre as will probalby hurt at the end of the day, and maybe groin muscles from holding the board with one foot on hte lift.

My cousin actually broke his arm his first time on a snowbaord at the end of the day. He jumped and went for a 180 and fell . lol

i'm assuming you're going somewhere with ridiculous powder right now so i'd say just stick with what you know. i'd be super bummed if i was stuck on a pair of skis when there's so much powder on the ground. definitely try snowboarding though just not when conditions are prime for powder riding. that's just my opinion though.

Yeah, #### skiing. Grab yerself a snowboard.. if you rent tho, dont get step-in bindings.. that #### is weak.

its nothin like skating, tho.. what i thought was weird was that when i longboard my frontside carves get super gnarly and deep.. but its the opposite when i snowboard. go figure!

haha, and dont make the mistake i did.. if you got nose rings, take em out if youre just learning.

i say don't snowboard. i ski (and i'm going on moday!) and my friend snowboards and he sucks. i went skiing with him once and it was a pain the whole day waiting for him to get down the slope.

snowboarders scrape away all the powder too. i've always regretted taos letting snowboarders in b/c ive wanted to go there snowboard free

Take lessons if you've never done it. Otherwise, stay on skis. They are not nearly the same feeling at all.

i rode skis for two years and a couple seasons ago I switched to snowboarding and I never looked back.
The whole reason I started longboarding was to try and replicate the feeling, but nothing is quite like it.

I tried it once. Really thought I would be shredding within a few hours. I was back on my skis by mid morning.

The feel of the board coming out on the backend on a hard carve and snapping it back in place is very similar to carving on a snowboard. If you can do this is both directions well, snowboarding shouldn't be that hard for you to get used to. Otherwise you will probably spend the majority of the time eating snow and cursing.

The first time I went snowboarding was when I first started longboarding so I never really did an carving that broke the wheel traction. I sucked terribly. I spent three days in Colorado not being able to even get down the mountain without eating sh1t a hundred times. The next time I went I was a lot better and after falling two or three times I realized that it is the same exact motion but just a lot more delicate and focused on your toes. You just put the back end a little cockeyed and then dig and then do it the other way. Its a lot easier said than done. And I didn't learn anything from my lesson.

I skied for a year and then decided to snowboard. never took a lesson and taught myself everything i needed from watching people. now ill never touch skis again.
longboarding helped my balance a crap ton! if you can longboard well then snowboarding should be cake for you.
all you need to know is to keep your knees bent. and apply pressure with your toes and heels instead of leaning to turn. don't lean to turn. just lean to keep from falling over. its all in the toes and heels.
funnest thing i've ever done my entire life.
