oh sorry man, its just that this guy pisses me off and sometime i do let it slide. when its older folks, yeah. but if it younger people. not so much.

Its all good man. I was mad when he posted it too. It never fails when im on my longboard cruising town that someone has to comment on me being a "skateboarder" or something of that nature. That is why i have my ipod with me so if they say something i dont hear them and i listen to some tunes. Bad part about that is if you are in a rather busy area then you cant be to aware of your surroundings.

not trying to defend this guy but hitting a handrail or a 10 stair takes a whole boatload of skill. and yes it hurts when u fall, not all skaters are like this guy so I don't realize why everyone is for a divide in skating. He's probably a 14 year old who only sees people on freshly cut sector 9's with hollister t's, not like there's anything wrong with that but it's not skating or what I would consider longboarding. More of just a way to get around or just using the board as an accessory. and I do encourage everyone to learn how to ollie and ride a hard rock maple double kick, you will be a better skater from it.

actually, i agree. but so do cornering, 720 flatspins, g-turns, 360 standers on softies, or just pushing 30, 40, 50, 60 in general. the real question is this- how many times out of ten can you nail a predrift and sail away being jetisoned from the apex? how many times out of ten after having practiced and practiced and practiced will you be able to effectively early grab a set of stairs? or a bluntside? or a tiger claw? in my own experience, the answer when allocated to any trick or talent sequence would more often than not, be all ten. i work my ass off on my boards. and before i say that someone like rodney mullen or tony hawk etc, doesn't, i'd say for a fact that they indeed work harder and longer on their boards than i do any of mine. it's what they do all day. this leaves the following unexcusable.

several weeks ago, i saw a televised x games skating event. it was supposedly the best of the best competing over a stairwell with a rail. i don't remember their names too well, but one guy named paul had just had a daughter named heaven, one had won it last year (name started with an r), one got off looking surly with his four foot dreads, one ugly dude showed his hairy ass crack every time he bent over to pick up his board with his heroin fiend arms, and three or four other guys. these guys got ten tries each to land a trick of their choice. only two succeeded in the required three completions, the dread kid and paul. the supposed best skater there hurt himself in the process. also, i saw a video of tony hawk playing a game of "S.K.A.T.E" with a college student. it went on for about half an hour. not because they were keeping par with eachother, but because neither of them could land a single ####### trick.

now, honestly, i have a respect for the riders i see cruising campus on their trick decks, speeding on those tiny ass wheels, and grinding rails on the way to class- but because i see them landing their tricks and having fun. the world would not be missing out without if a sport where the best of the best can't even do their choice techniques on an unbarred stairwell calling their name. not to mention, these mother####ers were nothing but a publicity stunt. stockcar doting bastards making poor fashion statements from companies buying out their shirtspace. if anyone can practice hours a day, every day, for years, and still #### up on allegedly simple tricks, then terms like "dilusional" and "worthless" and "futile" come to mind.

on a different note, why is this thread still going on?
