Look like velcro to me...
Either that, or someone without rep power tried to rep them.

Re: This is a photo of the cockpit of the Space Shuttle
i would be so scared of like turning around and accidentally knocking a switch and then not being able to find which one i hit. add that to the greatest fears thread.
its not in space, the windows have been photoshopped. there should be HUD display screens in front of both windows, and cameras in the shuttle dont pick up stars. and the cabin pressure reads 0.
I think the blue squares are velcro, so they can like put down their drink when they are weightless. and their pens etc, and not have them float off. other pictures of other shuttle cockpits dont have them, which is odd.
“But the down side to being in space is, if I can borrow this prop, if I had a set of procedures here from
which I was working on a piece of equipment, and if I were in space and just released it, it would float – and
I can tell you from personal experience – to the most remote corner of your spacecraft, through
passageways and everything, and you’ll never find it until after the end of the mission. It’s the most
amazing thing. So that is why at NASA we probably use about half the world’s supply of Velcro, because if
you’re done with something, you stick it somewhere so that you know where it is.” --john edwards jr.

Re: This is a photo of the cockpit of the Space Shuttle
the current shuttle fleet is being discontinued in 2010
it's replacement will be muuuuuch more computer controlled. the idea is for it to be able to be flown by engineers and scientists.... not test pilots

You're good. I was wondering about the "space" shot outside the windows. Now that you mention it, cameras wouldn't pick up the star light. It would meter for the interior lighting of the cockpit.
The cabin pressure thing. Good catch again. I don't like that I can't read the instruments at full resolution either. The photographer can't be that bad. It has to be intentional.
Anyway, good eye. You have some flight training?
