^^Maybe so--but I do know the community colleges around here love their international students...
They pay huge amounts of tuition (no subsidies, no finaid) and they get all the money paid to them directly
rather than splitting government subsidies with other colleges.

My opinion? I like chocolate, but have a moral aversion to squash. Firefly was pretty cool, especially how they
played with languages. But their pronunciation sucked.
Oh, about schools you mean? Which one has a program you like? Don't know? Which one will be cheaper to attend
while you figure that out?
If you don't have a strong opinion on schools an programs for yourself--opt for the one you can most afford...
All things still equal, look at the course catalog, find out how often interesting classes are held, and look deeply
into the bureaucracy and try to work out how much of a pain in the arse a mistake will be to get fixed.
What are the policies for retaking classes? Withdrawing? Changing classes? Do you have to live on campus for
the first year? Semesters or quarters?
Most importantly, will the classes that you are most interested in be offered after 10 am?

Congrats everyone on making it into some top-notch schools. Just a tip: Don't slack off senior year... especially if you are going into engineering or a science major... I am a chemical engineering student and school is rough at times. Just stay on top of things, stay focused, know your responsibilities... and party in moderation lolol. Good luck to all of you in your college years, they are some great times, keep an open mind as well.
I graduated in December but I'll offer some advice about choosing a college. Hopefully it helps someone.
Everyone has the basic criteria in their head: location, cost, academic reputation. Maybe you have a few others. I had chosen a major before I was admitted: industrial engineering. An important criterion I failed to consider was who actually recruits at the school for industrial engineering (or insert your major here)? College is a great opportunity to learn and mature, but it is largely just a means to an end. The job/career/income you want. Being forward thinking at 18 can really help you along the way. Talk to the career center and professors in your department about employers for your area of study. Ask who the employers are and what kind of salaries can be expected. Find out about accessibility of internships.
I'd also encourage the undecided folks to strongly consider declaring a major. If you like it, you stick with it. If you don't, you switch; but you're no worse than having entered as undecided. Lots of the friends you meet freshman year will screw up academically. Don't be one of them.
Sort of an anachronism but back in '04 I applied and was admitted to:
U. of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana)
U. of Southern Illinois (Edwardsville)
Bradley University (attended)
