If you read the article, it says it was a rocket engine from an old spacecraft.

And you know those invisible layers in the sky? Yeah the ones that protect us from becoming bacon! When things hit against them, they get really hot! Friction!

If you guys actually saw it you might understand my skepticism. It was not just a little poof in the sky. The sky lit up. Like a huge explosion. I find it hard to believe that no one would announce ahead of time that this was going to happen and that there would be enough fuel in a piece of space sh1t to make an explosion of that magnitude. It also happened twice. The first time got my attention and the second time I was looking right at it. It also had a red light behind it that went all the way down to the horizon line. If anything EVER came that close to the ground I would think that the people who run the show would be more careful to drop it over the ocean. I'm not usually the one to cry conspiracy but this sounds like a bullsh1t coverup.

There are no people running that show.
Junk gets caught in orbit and it comes down whenever gravity can pull it down, so there's really not much that can be done. We don't know when it's coming down nor do we know where it's coming down.

I think there is some math calculator beater out there who can come up with an equation to at least give a rough estimate on the time of re-entry and the placement. I'm pretty sure our space program is more sophisticated than just a bunch of mooks waiting for space waste to impact some grandma's house.

Well, most space junk does incinerate upon reentry, and if anything does impact the ground it'll be the size of a golf ball. Our atmosphere is good with that kinda stuff. So we really don't bother figuring that out, unless it's something we need back, like people.

In my astrophysics course we calculated slingshot trajectories... That is, finding out what velocity an object (satellite) will need to stay in continuous orbit with the earth without crashing down.
There is a certain height and speed accompanied with it and when you add the earth's gravitational force into it you can find out how to sustain things in orbit pretty well for pretty long. Those kind of things can be calculated and it's not too difficult..
but the atmosphere usually does a good job of taking care of it

edit: just looked at the article and here's your answer!
"He checked the listing for debris that were expected to enter the lower atmosphere from their decaying orbits around this time period..."

You're hopeless. Specks of dust burning through the atmosphere are brighter than stars. I think something as big as an engine would be huge.

Still doesn't explain the huge light dipsh1t. Or the fact that it happened twice. It was brighter than lightning. It lit up the sky. Go back reread, Practice some comprehesion.

a shooting star, by the time we see it is the size of a grain of sand... they go through a lot of the atmosphere.
this part of a rocket didnt go through as much atmosphere so less of it burned up. Which made its mass huge.
    think about it fuzz
    Lets do some approximate calculations..

you're familiar with shooting stars and how much light they produce.
    so
size of shooting star=grain of sand=amount of light you're familiar with
size of rocket engine=1,000,000,000xgrain of sand (just for an example)=1billion times brighter than a shooting star.

the reason there were 2 of them is because the atmosphere rips things apart, remember when the shuttle disintegrated on re-entry? that sure as hell wasnt in one piece

Fuzz I see where are coming from, I saw it. Where it may be a cover-up I doubt it. The explanation seems to make sense.

I'm not saying with any sort of assurance whatsoever as to what is going on. It is just fishy to me that a detached rocket engine, as big as that may be, can daylight an entire night sky... twice.

its obvious what it really was. The government found a way to clone an alien they had in super secret storage on area 51 and they sent it up in a space ship but the alien did not know how to correctly drive the ship because it was programmed with a human brain so it lost control and the ship fell through the atmosphere making that huge light show up.
