Australian input needed

Hey guys, I'm trying to develop my australian accent and all the how tos on adapting an accent say to watch shows or movies that have that accent in them, so do you guys have any good recomendations for shows or movies? preferably shows and movies that arent terribly depressing or chick-flick-y

well... he DOES live in Los Altos...

you could be the typical american that wishes they were australian... get a bad haircut(long or mullet) drink alot of fosters, put shrimp on the barbie, and talk about shelias and surfing.

hahah tbh i've never really seen fosters around. XXXX and Boags and carlton beer are all aussie though. but otherwhise your on the ball.. in fact i feel like some shrimp now

If your trying to learn it for a stage play or something, your probably best off getting a stereotypical and most thick out there accent you can. Steve Irwin and Crocodile Dundee both have thick accents prevelant from living in rural areas of australia and would be your best bet for a thick stereotypical aussie accent, if you like zombie movies, go check out "UNDEAD" aussie flick with some of the most thick accents i ever heard lol. For a more serious accent that still hints at stereotypical australian, try find movies like looking for allibrandi, is the only one coming to the top of my head.

haha, i remember one of my buddies from Oz was talkin to somebody bout all that once, and he's from a rural spot inland and in his terribly thick accent goes "#### yoooou!! they're PRAAAAWNS!!!" at my buddy.. haha, grat times.

and I'm not looking to adapt a really thick accent, just a minor one, but noticable.

you'll look like a poser if you do that, and we all know how bad that is! aussies don't drink fosters, and we call em prawns not shrimp. And 'australia' is properly pronounced 'straya', not 'Arse-tray-lee-uh'
