Default Help!!! Anti boarding Police! (NZ)

Hey, wondering if any of you have come across a $750 ticket for reckless use of a skateboard. My buddy got one bout an hour ago and is was BS. 11.45 at night down Ohiro road, Wellington, did 6 passes, maybe saw 4 or so cars the whole time. on the last run get pulled over by the fuzz and bam! $750 Ticket. SO yeah anyone out there with the same #### gone down, get in touch. Also anyone who knows the laws surrounding the issue, come forward. Chur Chur.
Oh and the riding was sick up until that moment.
Peace.

$750 ticket is bullshit. Appeal it if u can. My mates and I got hit with a $51 fine couple days ago for skating a low traffic road. Still waiting on the ticket but I doubt they can charge us with what we were doing.

Dude that sucks big time.
I only know little bits of the law as in its legal to skate on the road, you need lights at night and cant break the speed limit.
There is other guys that know the ins and outs of it.
They can do you for reckless riding if your crossing the centre line and speeding etc.
I'll post this at neednotollie.com you will get more help there.

A mate of mine used to work for the fuz processing traffic fines - she said that when skateboarding related fines came up they didnt know what to do with them so they would just throw them in the trash. So i suggest waiting until you get a letter from the govt. Also Bfm in Auckland have a lawyer advice show this cap could call.

Damn 750 bucks? that's a whole new setup. I knew the cops were strict over there but damn. I hope you get out of paying that. It's nice to see that there's people that help you out with the laws on here.

Orange, breaking the speed limit? Im sure it's true but still funny how a longboarder can get a ticket for speeding on a board. I can already see it on one of those "reckless drivers" shows.

That sucks man, me and my mates have been caught heaps of time bombing dodgy as hills drunk as and have never had any trouble with them. The worst that's happened is them telling us to wear a helmet.

Although skating behind a car with a ski-rope they do not like at all, got in quite a bit of #### for that haha

Huh ...funny, I live in Nelson, NZ, & I've been threatened twice with a $750 fine by the same officer, nice guy. The skateboard is a legal road vehicle for those over 14 yrs of age but each town or city has their own indivdual city bylaws regarding skating in certain areas such as the CBD. I have to agree $750 is a tad overboard that's on par with a fine for drink driving & they're hardly in the same category.

Peace!
