hey kooky, so i tried out the setup today and found it to be pretty sweet. i found with the dh base at the front it was a little more stable (although it already is pretty good), and although it didn't ride with quite the same carving motion as the RII base it seemed to 'open up' better at the higher speeds. the strikers were a little harder than my gumballs, so didn't have quite the same intense grip that my wheels provide, although they seemed just as fast and weren't sliding out all over the place.

yeah i reckon you're going to have a pretty gnarly ride when you get all the pieces together! you'll have to show us some action shots!

Hi Noc Im glad that the set up works, Im going to do Wiamia rd from the Hospital down towards town it should be a sweet ride to test things out , More stable but less turny I`ll watch out for that maybe thats why Ive been told to run the front loose. it will have to be a n early morning run to avoid the traffic.so do you prefer the gumballs or strikers?
hey Bomber I must be the only one here on a long board Mapua has some nice hills but the roads are ruff as.
I live up the top of washington valley so I have a nice run at the door step. Have you got any secert stop in Nelson you want to let me in on.

    So many people!

Anyone else noticed now that in some of the sections of the forums (e.g General) tend to have a full page of new threads, or new replies?

About 2 months ago it would only be about 4-7..

Here it goes - I'm moving to NZ in a few months and would like some tips. I've been reading this thread but can't really pinpoint a few things. Where's the best places to ride? Where are the most riders located?

Would be kinda bullocks to get down there and find out im all alone on the hills!

    Cheers!

Most likely Auckland Christchrurch Wellington Dunedin the main cities, there are some good roads and lots more people to ride with you`ll just have to ask around when you get here. .Im from a small town so its basically me trying to crack the DH speed thing here and Im getting there slowly,,, small town not so many good roads, big town = big roads, the thing about NZ is you need transport places are spread out so be preperd to travel for your fun, So which town are you going to?

    Auckland or Wellington.

Gonna get some half arsed job and then just board around, heard many great things about NZ so its gonna be great. Transportation shouldn't be a problem, i'm quite sure i can uppgrade my swedish driving lisence so i can do some half arsed course down there to get a NZ valid one. Gonna check that up even more though.

Do you come into the big towns to bomb alot?

    Cheers!

Wow! what a cool board if I had known about the Evo earlier I wouldnt have spent all the money I have on my other decks , I must admit I was a bit sceptable as to how it would behave,First off Im not a hard out DH racer but Im working on the skills, anyhow all the stories are true Its so stable , I had it set pretty loose on its first run just to see how it would handle a moderate hill I was imediately impressed with how my feet felt locked in and although its a serious DH board it carves well too, at one stage I had both my feet together at the front I was well impressed . I can see I will be spending many hours playing with my new toy.
Hey Noc I freaked myself out at how it holds a corner its like a god dam racing car, my convidence has grown just from tonight , I`ll be up early before work for another quick run
    ...Im so happy

    Talking Brooklyn ####### Road

So me an my mate bombed Brooklyn Road this mornin
Biggest rush ever, on the last run I tucked/crouched through the whole thing, justa bout creamed myself it was ###### insane

Kookyfish & Curry, you gotta try it ay, theres a lotta decent hills round Welly but this is the only one we've found that has 2 parking lanes, so the whole run's clear every time... It was only on our first run that a car actually caught up to us, coz we were takin it slow to start with (air braking + carving), an thats on a Friday night, it'd be deserted on like a Tuesday mornin.

We've bin ridin what, 3 months? and we were walkin back to the top every time

No clue what the grade is mate, how would you find that out? its smooth as though.
Theres an ok runoff at the end which runs into a set of traffic lights, you can carve to slow yourself down then just footbrake near the lights. we bombed it again Sunday night and had a bit more nuts to go from higher up. started hitching rides back up with kind wellington folk.

EDIT- Yo Louie set up your own account-

No idea what grade it is, but it's steep enough that buses and small cars can't do 50 going up. It's steep enough you could get a speeding ticket.
    Gravity always wins
