Jestah and myself have been working on a NZ longboarding web site, which we hope to launch some time soon. There is a test site set up here: Uglie Carnie
We're still looking for a good name for the site (Uglie Carnie is just a working name for now) and are keen for any suggestions. Let us know what you think - we'd be keen to discuss up at the race.
It's late so I haven't been able to load it up as planned but the basics are working.
That is so cool guys. let us know when we can sign up or if there is anything we can do to help.
I suppose I could enter, and then give myself a prize for eldest competitor.
I wasn't planning to enter the P2P race but might participate in some of the other stuff if the risk of me breaking a bone isn't too high. Otherwise I might just be the voice of reason, or official photographer, or timekeeper, or bring the drinks on at half time.
For prizes I've ordered in a variety of Lucky bearings and a few skate tools. My supplier has also thrown in some stocking fillers (stickers, curb wax(?), key rings).
thats great. ill bet you wont be last if you joined the P2P race. anyway, im looking forward to it. the weather is meant to be cloudy which is good so its not too hot. there are chances of drizzles so keep fingers crossed that weather holds up.
i think there are 2 other locals over 30 that will join. not sure if they can make it though as they have a wedding to attend to. Natt from skate new zealand might come. i think hes around 30.
Yeah, feel free to sign up. While I will try to keep all data intact it's possible we might lose something if i end up moving servers... so don't spend hours writng up content you don't want to lose, but feel free to have a play around.
Lookin forward to coming down to chill and roll.
where abouts is everyone meeting? im hoping to be down there round 2-3pm....
who else is coming down from dorkland?

i have a couple of mates that might come down on saturday. if any of you are here before 4 pm, we can chill at my place till the race. otherwise we can meet in newton st in front of KFC. now depending on the wind, we might have to reverse the course (start will be the finish and vice versa). will post final notices tomorrow evening.
my address is 31 mamaku rise, welcome bay. heaps of hills around so plenty to do before the race.

I'm trying to resist but the the geek in me is too strong.... is that Drupal in the background, and where are you hosting it. Damn good idea by the way.
Yep, it runs on drupal, which I've never used before but seems to be doing a good job with a plugin written for every feature needed.
Haven't got a final host location sorted yet, Lorenzo of skurfboards.com has let me host it on his account for now, will hopefully be able to leave it there.

Righto, as I'm still here at Nacho's I thought I'd be the first to get on here. Thanks to everyone who turned up, it was a pleasure to be at the 1st ever NZ long distance skateboarding race (can't really call it longboarding with someone riding a humu)
Thanks to Nacho for hosting and organising; the bombadier crew, sugar boards, the welly boys and girls and everyone else.
The weather was perfect, the roads were quiet and everyone managed to finish the race. I think eveyone is with me on this when I write that 'The Big Ginge' himself, Josh, has to take Slam of The Weekend. Mate, you are a trooper to get up from that (even if you don't actually remember getting up) Was good to get you skating again this morning.
I have got the best of Mine, Julia's and Nacho's photos up for your browsing here
once again, thanks to everyone involved. I can pretty much say I won't be at the next one... my money's on Josh!

thanks to dave, the only aucklander to make it he won a small prize just for that.
Mark and Ross, the only locals who showed up. and the best thing about it, ross finished the race despite not having a lot of skating experience. hope the cap fits well.

Thanks heaps for everything Nachot, it was great despite the accident. Sorry we weren't able to take part in it in quite the way we imagined. It would be great if you could come across one day. It'll give us the opportunity to show you some hospitality in return.
It was great to meet some of the other guys who contribute so much to the skate scene, and sorry we missed the rest of you.
apologies for going MIA on sunday morning... one drink led to another which led to a foot i couldn't walk on in the morning.
Thanks to Nacho for organising the event, such a good gig, great bunch of guys, i look forward to skating with you in the near future.
Post up any more events here aye, im very keen on traveling round for more events, and maybe even organising something up here some time...
