C11 Scriber
Anyone had any experience with the C11 Scriber??
Apparently it's built so you CANT get speed wobbles, even at 90Ks
Grom Biz Pty Ltd C11 Scriber
Worth checking out just for a look. Think I might grab some.
Opinions??

Re: C11 Scriber
any truck that can turn can get wobbles.
In fact they tend to feel perpetually loose, so they're good ankle training for when you get a real board.

Re: C11 Scriber
Haha, thats a very strong claim!!
Ben the designer used to ride with us alot, but we never see him anymore..
i admit, i have seen him hit up to the 70km/h mark on them, but i will tell you know, there is absolutely no way you would get me riding them at speed. They are increadibly loose, even with the bushings in them, so it takes alot of stability in your ankles to keep the board under control.

Re: C11 Scriber
I've personally seen someone get wobbles and crash on a scriber.
Admittedly, it was set asymmetrically, and he was riding it backwards.

Re: C11 Scriber
yeah i wouldn't touch one with a forty foot pole. my brother got one and they are so loose. the trucks are either turning hard left or hard right, everywhere in-between is loose as. even if u set it so that the trucks don't turn, the deck still wobbles like a mofo. also the wheels that come with it are the slowest ones i have ever come across (they are friggin grippy though!)
so yeah, i don't rate it at all
interesting signature coming soon...

Re: C11 Scriber
agrees with anyone else...i have been one of the biggest advocates of NOT using the original scriber trucks....they are just scary..the new trucks will be released soon...but seriously? buy another board.

Re: C11 Scriber
I own some of the old ones and seriously if you arnt constintly carving they feel a little awkward and i wouldnt want to take them above 60kh. I dont know about the new ones with the bushings, but aparently the still dont feel that good. Also the other thing about them is they require a fair bit of matinance to keep everything moving nicely.
Edit: Also you cant run biltins in them without putting your nylocks on backwards!

Re: C11 Scriber
Dont get me wrong they are a good idea and i have said that all along. I wouldnt ever use them as a racing truck is all. they are a carver truck really. But you have to keep in mind that they are only new so they need a few generations to work out the bugs. So they should get better if Ben keeps trying to improve them.

Re: C11 Scriber
I just got the C11 scriber.....When i got it, i was a little bit disappointed, because it lacked the same stability longboards usually have.
but it comes with a pair of bushings which acts like training wheels...30 minutes later, when i gotten use to the board, i took all the bushings out and was in carving heaven.
The movement mimmics such one would experience when surfing.....i was thrilled.
However, those black tar wheels are uber slow, but super grippy (trade off)
i would recommend them to anyone who wants to carve down a hill and practice their cut back moves during winter.
i'd still ride my other longboard (sector 9 pin tail with Randall 2 180's) for commuting, but my gosh, i am speechless.
this board rapes it on downhill runs.

Ben is back in the US. He left AU with about 6 days notice so he couldn't wrap up much there. He does respond to email - ben@grombiz.com or PM him. He's been at the Friday night SDCG meets and I know he's geting out all over So. Cal.

try spinning the wheels
the bearings are a trade off, don't try hard carving on axles like these on many other wheels,
not fun
also
dh on the deck un modified axle and those bearing would be hilarious
krimes would have trouble im sure

Re: C11 Scriber
dude its more the wheels than the bearings that make it roll slowly

in your opinion yes but thats not what i was saying was it?
it will make the wheels go considerably faster with different bearings and i know softer wheels will be slower but if u stand on the wheels and look at them they don't actually compress that much so im still convinced it doesent make a huge difference compared to changing the bearings
