Default Re: New Bustin Board! IBACH

I took the IBACH out for about 3 hours the other day, my first chance to really give it a good run.

My initial impressions are quite good. Set up is Caliber Trucks 50 Calibers, stock medium Blood Orange bushings barrel/cone, Phat Deanz 70mm 84a Phat Rollz. I am 5' 11" 195 lbs.

    The good:

-Solid feel. I was riding what I think is the 9 ply version. Definitely some flex under my 195 lbs. But not enough that I wouldn't bomb a hill on it.
-Nice foot pockets. Very good for stand up slides.
-Concave is pretty good for tucking, easy to line my feet up.
-Waist prevents rail bite. I was running my trucks super loose, no problem. (but also causes torsional flex)
    -Good wheel clearance.
-The little bit of upturn on the nose and tail is appreciated if only for ease of picking my board up by tipping it up with my foot. (though the extra nose/tail length makes pulling the board back up the hill impossible)
-Aesthetically speaking, like all things Bustin, it's a pretty deck to look at.

    The bad:

-More torsional flex than I would like. This can be good for sliding, but not what I want in a strict DH deck. (I may have been riding a 9 ply though, in which case I'd like to get on a 10 ply at some point)
-Foot space (effective standing platform) is definitely a tad stingy. I still felt cramped up a bit when I was in a dropped knee stance setting up for colemans or gripping heel side turns
-I didn't really notice the slide rails, and for better or worse would have preferred just a very sharp 90° edge instead.

    Overall:

Very fun ride! I felt comfortable on the deck at my local hairpin, and gripped it though the turn a few times for good measure. Also felt good to throw a pre-drift on. Took a lot of runs just to get used to the EFP being shorter than I am accustomed to. Threw a lot of coleman slides, toe side pendys and heel side stand ups and 180s. Very fun for sliding, hands down or stand up. The concave can be slightly awkward when standing sideways (cruising) at some points close to the foot pockets where the flat of the pocket meets the upturn of the edges. All in all, this deck is quite good for freeriding and maybe even some dedicated Downhill as well.

Just wanted to thank Ryan and the Bustin crew again for getting one into my hands. I'm excited for the full release!! This deck should make a lot of folks very happy.

How bad was the footspace? im 6'1 and about 160 pounds. Also how did the concave feel? Did you try to dance at all or was it too cramped?

The EFP is about 25". This may be more than enough for some people, but it was a bit tight for me when in a dropped knee stance.

I don't dance. Nor would I say this shape or style of deck lends itself to dancing.

Would you recommend this board? It looks like an awesome deck. Ill be riding mine with Bear Grizzly's and Bustin Boca 75mm wheels. Haha I don't want to have buyers remorse. (sorry for all the questions )

No worries! I definitely would recommend it, it's a super fun ride! I plan on stocking them in my shop when they are available, and I'm picky about what I sell!

Do you think this would be a good board for someone over 200 looking to learn DH if I got the 10ply? I'm sitting around 210-220

It is about as stiff as a 9 ply SM. I get flex on that too. So I would assume however stiff your SM feels to you, your IBACH will as well.

Yes. You can definitely use either the 9 or 10 ply to learn to DH. For your weight I would say the 10 ply would be better.

Email us @ skate at bustinboards dot com and make the request to change. We can definitely make that change for you. Nothing's been shipped yet. The waist in the board lends to a little bit of twisting, which can be nice for slides. The 10-ply definitely lends itself more to downhill, especially for dudes who are a little heavier.

it might, but with the right bushings i think i can avoid rail bite completely.

and if anything it can always be top mounted again....

i don't get this. the switch has flat tails. the evo's tail is dewedged.

kebbek made the comishin, caften, kootenay, and the jim-z, but they never made a dewedged tail, or a tapered body.

there were also drum sets, v6 engines, and teaspoons made in the seventies.
