ive been playing around with an idea to start a friendly, shite talking inspiring, exciting, gnartastic, shits'n'giggles mini outlaw series here in SLO for the gang of local DH shredders here in SLO and any other shredders in the area. so im just tossin this out as a feeler thread seeing how many people may be interested.
the idea is simple, person who has the most points at the end of the school year in June wins. events will be held on local runs throughout the course of the year whenever we can manage to shred. they'll range from DH to garage races to a cross town push race to whatever else we think of.
we'll be using a few different points systems based on the run/course or our mood. they will be as follows:
1. Conventional - 1st place wins 15 pts, 2nd place wins 10 pts, 3rd place wins 5pts. the other slowpokes get nothing. 2. Time Trials - fastest time on the course wins (1st - 15pts, 2nd - 10pts, 3rd - 5pts). Probably establish a mean/average time for a course (i.e. 1:00 minute or whatever) and if you come under that time you're guaranteed 2 pts (not definitive yet) if you DONT podium. this will probably be the system used most to eliminate big groups of riders going to gnarbar and cutting lanes and getting pwnzored by cars. fastest person to set the fastest time on the course will recieve bonus points (maybe, maybe not. havent decided.) 3. Head to Head challenges - any person in the points standings can challenge another rider at an event. you can ONLY challenge someone who has MORE POINTS than you do in the overall standings. for example, if bob (2nd place in standings) challenges bill (1st in standings) the winner will get 5pts while the loser loses 5pts just to spice up the competition. so the 1st place rider CAN NOT challenge anyone, 2nd place can ONLY challenge 1st place, 3rd can challenge 2nd or 1st, and so on and so forth. 4. Team time trials - 2 person team with fastest combined time on hill wins. plain and simple. 1st place team - both riders get 15pts. 2nd place team - both riders get 10 pts. 3rd place team - both riders get 5pts.
Overall victor of the challenge gets a sweet high five.
good ideas, but wouldn't you better serve the skate comunnity by have a weekend race.
without a doubt.
but tomorrow most of the local DH skaters here are free from class. so i thought id jump on the opportunity.
have no fears. there will be many more events between now and june. theres a very remote chance of another event this saturday in Santa Barbara. I know that may be quite the drive from Fresno/CenCal but this road is AMAZINGly fun and my personal fave.

and the brand spankin new event: the eliminator - "x" amount of riders start. last place is eliminated each round/run until you whittle it down to a head to head showdown for 1st place. (1st place - 10 pts, 2nd - 5pts, 3rd - 2.5pts)
