Anyone else 408?
I'm 408, Cupertino.. and i'm having the EXACT issue with pumping as you are.. i have a little driveway area.. that tilts downhill slightly.. and only then am i able to really accelerate while supposedly "pumping".. obviously.. i mean gravity is going to do it's thing regardless of pumping or not..........

Re: Bay Area riding
yes, all longboarder should learn to pump, it will make your carving skill much better.
There is actually a small group of slalom riders that meets in south san jose saturday mornings if you are into cones...

Re: Bay Area riding
Lol. Just came back from alpine. some of the trails are hella sick. Like we met up with some random longboarders and one of them took the side street at like 53 mph. I chickened out and like took it near the bottom and still went 30 or so.

No i havent then. I know a Max at my school who claims to ride like all these big hills, but when i go riding with him, he chickens out and takes it from the bottom. And i did go to the black diamond ride once with the freebord crew and i rode my freebord but it was the last time they went after the cops got called on us again.
