so many of these stories this summer.

you know what looks more stupid than wearing a helmet?
laying in a hopital bed drooling for the last week of your life.

just wear one, bros. im sick of seeing these stories.

this was not really a helmet wearing situation,
more of a keep you eyes open situation.

sidewalk pushing, darting out between cars, get hit by suv...

i do agree with you guys, helmets are a big must. especially if your crossing the street or just skating. but in my eyes, this is more of the kid just not thinking. the report says he veered off the sidewalk into the street. not in a crosswalk or a marked zone. if he had stopped and looked around for cars this wouldn't of happened. and yes, a helmet would have helped. but i see this involving more common sense than anything else. thats all

What a tragic story, a young man dies & his best friend watched it happen.

Lets try to respect the deceased by not blaming them for not wearing a helmet, keeping their eyes open etc.

I like many others have done a lot of foolish things in my life on a skateboard/bike/car & luckily I am still around.

Yeah, he got hit by a SUV. I don't think a helmet would have been much help here.

he got hit by an suv..... so dont ever wear a helmet? smart a$$ remarks dont make people smart. yes, watch where you'are going and put a helmet on. you dont think playing on the sidewalk can put you in a coma? breaking bones heal, breaking brains kills.
